Vagueira Restaurant — Restaurant in Toronto

After reading reviews of this restaurant, I decided to check it out. So went over today with my friend. It's a charming family run establishment. Very authentic in ambience, cuisine and everything. I was enchanted with the menu - handwritten in Portuguese on a piece of paper. And that one piece of a paper menu goes from table to table!!! I found this very appealing, it somehow added to the authenticity of the place. Hardly any one speaks English and we had to get one young woman working there to translate the menu to us and she had to struggle a bit with the translation 😜

The food is very tasty and of generous portion size. I ordered pork with potatoes and rice, my friend ordered the bacalhau (cod) and we split a skewer of beef. All so good and very filling. My friend had a glass of Portuguese port and I had 2 rounds of Portuguese beer.

We were sooooo stuffed that we could not relish the delicious looking caramel custard and expresso. However I will certainly go there again.

O one more thing, seemingly small but very charming... The senior gentleman, who is a family member, is very attentive and welcomes each patron with a complimentary appetizer - crusty tasty pieces of bread stuffed with choriso and olives on the side. A very nice touch which doesn't go unnoticed. I enjoyed my dining experience here and I highly recommend this great family...

Celebrated my partner’s birthday! I was searching on Google for a Portuguese authentic restaurant and there were so many and a few well known in the city, having said this, I found Vagueira restaurant on Runnymede, in Toronto. They had great reviews, so I gave it a shot and call them up met up with the owner ‘Sofia’ and she was so gentle, sweet & patient, she suggested some food selections, and we agreed on them. The day before the event I had requested a few minor changes and add-on and Sofia was very accommodating and understanding. On the day of the event WOW! did she not only meet up with my requests but went on and above the line of duty and transformed her restaurant into a private dining area for my guests and friends, she made us feel at home. The food was delivered as promised, fresh, hot and delicious. All the Ingredients was courses were outstanding and the presentations were exceptional! Bravo to Sofia and her team . Thank you for the experience, best service and kindness. Yes, definitely will be returning, this will be my new Portuguese hangout! Btw; Sofia even personalized each guest menu with their names on it!...

Came by here yesterday, my spouse has been going to the restaurant since their first location on weston & has been a customer of theirs for 5 years. Let me tell you the experience we had yesterday (me being a first time at this restaurant) for lunch was AMAZING. We ordered the shrimp for the entrée & it was fresh & delicious, my spouse ordered the Picanha with fries, beans, and rice: it was perfectly grilled, the rice was amazing too and everything else ofc. I had the salmon.. and let me tell you it was one of the best that I've had in a while.. it was amazing, perfectly salted, perfectly grilled.. was super fresh 😍 sided witn the veggies and potatoes and olive oil.. amazing. For dessert we had the homemade chocolate mousse & once again did not disappoint, was super fresh & really rich. Also one of the best I've had thus far. Servers & the owner are also super friendly, always with a smile on their face. Will definitely be...
