Warning: Avoid Z Teca York U Location!
I've had multiple frustrating experiences at Z Teca and I feel like I should warn other students. First, the quality control here is pretty bad. One time I got a burrito that was literally burnt black. It was so overcooked, and when I told the employee, she argued with me, claiming it was "just over-toasted" and that it was supposed to look like that. I eat there all the time, and this was definitely not normal. After some back and forth, she finally made me a new one.
Another time, I went to pay for my order. The total was $13.50, I gave the cashier $20, then realized I had a 50-cent coin in my pocket. I offered it to her to adjust my change, and she flat-out refused, saying they don’t do cash back and that I had to take whatever change they gave me. I was honestly confused. I wasn’t asking for cash back. I was just giving her 50 cents so I could get the correct change. It didn’t make sense…
I’ve also seen some really questionable customer service. I watched a couple of employees charge a girl for a Coke she didn’t even order. When she asked for a refund, they refused, claiming it was "unsanitary" for them to return the item. She didn’t even open the can she was still in line. They said because she touched it they wouldn’t refund, then they said they have a policy of no refunds. I was right behind her in line and overheard the whole thing. It was a ridiculous excuse, and after some arguing, they eventually gave her the refund but only after causing a lot of unnecessary stress. Lastly, I’ve noticed the portions here are often really bad. They hardly fill the scoops when adding toppings. Honestly, it feels like management is cutting corners everywhere they can. They train employees to prioritize sales at the students expense. Their customer service is so bad because they lack common sense the manager lady has taught them to give small portions not listen to complains no refunded at any cost. I’ve had enough of bad experiences, and I definitely won’t be coming back...
Read moreThis place sent me and my friend to the hospital. As soon as we got there, the staff were very rude and hostile and weren’t giving us welcoming energy. As we placed our orders and went about picking our topics, they were very disrespectful and wouldn’t give us the toppings we were requesting, even after we explained that we understood that some toppings cost extra, and that we would pay the extra fee. They were judgmental, kept giving rude stares, and the tone of voice was absolutely harsh. Now when it came to the food, I was horrified. The most disgusting burrito, and burrito bowl me and my friend have ever ate. The chicken tasted rubbery, the beef tasted expired and watery, the rice was stale and tasteless, and all of it together just became a recipe for disaster. The food smelled and tasted old and rancid. Regardless we gave them the benefit of the doubt and tried the food. Automatically we knew that it was going to get us sick. We understood that they restaurant was not going to give us a refund anyways, especially since they were radiating cheap, stingy, and money hungry energy since the minute we stepped into the restaurant. Regardless, we still wanted to warn them of the problems, just so that they can try to fix it for next time, and so no one else gets old food. When we notified them of the problem we were faced with a very harsh reaction, in which they told us that we were the problem and the food was completely fine. Apparently we didn’t know what good food was, and that the food was not old, nor smelly, nor gone bad. We accepted our defeat and walked away, and as we left the restaurant the management continued to give bad stares and whispers. That following night, me and my friend both landed sick with EXTREME food POISONING, which landed us both in the Emergency Room. Absolutely disgusted with this place, and it’s so disturbing how this is the overpriced, and dangerous food that they are serving on a SCHOOL CAMPUS, where people are trying to learn. Avoid this place at...
Read moreordered a chicken bowl and the bowl consisted of 3 rice grains, a microscopic piece of cheese and maybe a lick of salsa and chicken from the employees imagination. first of all i asked for extra rice and the server was extremely rude and decided to ignore my request and added corn instead?!??? when i got to the table i tried saying corn and rice to maybe find a resemblance in the words thinking maybe she misheard but i came to the realization that she just put whatever she likes, idk maybe she was hungry or smt and thought the bowl was for her. when it came to the chicken she put so little u cant even see it, maybe smell it at best because it was nowhere to be found. i asked for extra salsa and she put enough to cover one of the three gains of rice added earlier. when touching the cheese i think she thought it was biohazardous because she was touching it like it was alive and maybe would come out the container and eat her. for 17$ id expect a bowl to look majestic and at least make me full, instead it was a snack size for my snack. i am neither fat nor stingy but i felt like i was fighting for my food. the food is good its just the servers put portions as if its coming out theyre own paycheck. i didn’t ask for any premium toppings like guacamole or extra protein so i dont understand the stinginess of these employees. if you want to be treated like you are getting served at a prison cafeteria then you have found your place. theres also a chipotle couple minutes away just go there and pay less and...
