If I could give it 50 starts I would. The food is absolutely amazing. By far the best place in all of YorkU and probably York entirely. The jerk chicken is closest I have ever had to the one in Jamaica. The chicken js flavoured up to the max. The juiciest and most tender chicken ever. The rice and peas are amazing and they pour some jerk oil onto it which makes it even better. The most authentic carribean food in probably the whole city. The lunch specials are 3 pieces of chicken with plenty of rice that they stuff into this medium container that they smash in because they are so generous with the portions. The prices are very good considering the quality and quantity compared to the places surrounding it. The service was super quick and friendly. Overall the best pick for food and by far carribean food in all of the York Area. Absolutely outstanding, highly recommend.

The jerk sandwich was nice (a bit spicy), big, and full of shredded meat (with 1 tiny bone). But too salty at times. I tried peanut punch for the first time and it tasted like a peanut butter milkshake. Edit: This time, the person making the sandwich was taking pieces off of a drumstick but still managed to give me bones and cartilage. I had 5. But the chicken wasn't salty. It was spicy though.

The Islands Caribbean Restaurant inside York U's student centre is the best of the best in the area for West Indian food. I just had heir new jerk chicken sandwich and it is AMAZING. Definitely give that a try. I've had almost everything else on the menu, and can vouch for this place with ease. Good job @TheIslandsYU!

Imperative that customer service relations between staff and clients/customers be upheld and valued especially towards repeat loyal customers. Respect both ways between both establishment, employees and client/ customer. Now that I’ve said all that, I’ll say this - I am a regular customer at this establishment, I love supporting a “decent divers” establishment, and one that’s local! But

I can say that on “many” occasions and I stress in the “MANY” the service and what I paid for is hit and miss. Some of the folks are really chill and others I feel like I’m being an inconvenience towards them in that moment.

😟I know what customer service and working at such a very similar establishment can be like personally. But it doesn’t really take a lot to just 😊 smile for that moment especially when interacting with repeat customers that are low maintenance, polite, and respectful. Just try it! 😀

The other issue I’ve been experiencing is portions and missing items. So many small pieces of 🍗 chicken that really aren’t chicken but bone 🦴 and fried skin 😔. I still support bc I like the food and some seeing some of the staff and saying hi. But really it’s such a disappointment when I open that container after an exhausting day and I’m super famished😢.

And not to mention missing chicken from my Roti, and I am cautious in repeating my order. And hearing it repeated only to get part of the order. My fault for not very Verifying before I leave.

Anyways I’ve gone on a lot, but thanks for all that you guys do and all the hard work with putting up with customers all day. Mostly the staff— management well, I’m not sure about the ones I’ve seen on duty when there not...

My friends have been telling me about how good the food at this restaurant was, finally last weekend I payed them a visit. I got my typical jerk chicken meal with rice and peas along with lots of gravy; something I always get from Caribbean restaurants, so I would say I am an expert! Hands down, this is one of the best tasting jerk chicken meals I have had. I got a medium size dinner, which comes with 4 pieces of juicy jerk chicken, perfectly cooked rice and peas, and tasty, not overly dressed coleslaw! What impressed me the most was the fact that this dish was authentic in spice. Most Caribbean restaurants now a days dumb down the spice and TRY to call their dish jerk chicken-its almost comical!

To top it all off, the staff are super friendly, and the wait was not long. This experience was definitely worth the 45 min drive. If I could give them 6 stars I would!

My ONLY suggestion, open more locations...
