July 23/24 Went to the donut man in crossfield with my daughter. Got a half dozen donuts, beef soup and a large Americano. The lid for the Americano did not snap on tight, I was not told by the server and ended up burning my three fingers placing it in the cup holder in my car. Not a pleasant way to start my morning and not acceptable service as I should have been given notice the cup lids do not fit the cups properly/securely. On further inspection after placing the lid and pressing down evenly the lid does not snap tight and any side pressure to the cup results in the lid popping up. The Server should have noticed this and made me aware so I could avoid the painful scalding. The donut man as a company should, through simple quality control, have these lids removed from inventory. I really like the donut man and the Americanos there are pretty good but after today's experience I see they are lacking in the we care about our customers department. My stinging fingers will remind me to not go there for further scalding. I provided a photo of the cup that shows my three finger prints and the cascade of scalding coffee Great donuts, good coffee and great soups but SERIOUSLY LACKING CUSTOMER CARE AND SERVICE!
July24/24 adding this edit to reply to the donut man's reply to my experience yesterday. Thanks for your speedy reply. I'm happy to hear there was only one other known similar incident like mine and I appreciate your overall concern. Fingers are still a bit stingy and sensitive today and I'm sure in another couple of days all will be good. Please follow through and have your staff check that lids snap on properly every time with out fail. Had it landed in my lap instead, things would have...
Read moreI've travelled to quite a few places in my life and my favourite part of that is the food. I have eaten donuts in Paris, Amsterdam, Belgium. I've had donuts in numerous places around the states. I've had sweets and bread and donuts in Colombia. My point is I eat a lot, and I have eaten at a relatively wide variety of places in the world.
Imagine my surprise when I hear so many people raving about Donut Man, a place only 30 minutes from my home city. I made the trek out there on a hot sunny day, and was greeted with a line. It wasnt that bad, we only waited around 10 minutes or so though I hear it can be quite longer. If it's a sunny day, make sure to bring a water bottle and extra sunscreen!
Once inside we got to choose from an incredibly interesting menu of donut flavours. While I'm sad they didn't have your typical filled donut, my broken heart over boston cream was cured.
I bit into the freshest, fluffiest, tastiest donut I have had since travelling abroad.
These donuts are light, fluffy, slightly crispy if you get it super fresh. The glaze is rich and creamy. Everything melts in your mouth. I had to keep myself from wanting to eat more.
They keep fresh hot plain donut vessels, ready to dip in the event they are sold out of a particular flavour.
I have now been cursed, I didn't know it was possible to find a donut that good here in Alberta and find myself constantly craving these delicious, fluffy clouds.
If you are constantly disappointed by the donuts from Donut Mill like I have been for the past 5 years, look no further. Skip your stop at gasoline ally on your way back to Calgary, and take a stop at The Donut Man. You...
Read moreDonuts are fabulous, staff was horrible! We were there on July 28th, around 5pm. Everyone rants and raves about these donuts, so we detoured our road trip and battled a stuck train just to try them. The worker was impatient, rude and unhelpful when ordering. We have a daughter with a severe egg allergy and were disappointed that there were no options for her, but totally understandable. We had an upset 2 year old, who was promised a donut. I was outside with our puppy and hubby was trying to order without me, so he asked if we could have a gummy worm put on top of one of the donuts to give her since she couldn’t have anything else in the shop. The worker’s response was, “You should have told me that before you ordered, so I could charged you for it.” Sure, that’s fine, everything costs money, but the way she said it and how rude she was to my husband about it was so uncalled for. We happily spent around $25 for 6 donuts, we weren’t looking for “freebies.” The couple behind us also commented on how rude and unpleasant the staff was; both girls. We will never go back and neither will several of our friends. We wish the “Donut Man” himself was there because I genuinely don’t think this would have ever happened, I’ve heard great things. The donuts were FANTASTIC though!! I’m really sad this left such a sour taste in our mouths because I love love love supporting small town businesses, being from one myself! I would rather eat a “meh” Tim Hortons donut from a worker who offers a timbit to my puppy, with a smile on...
