A-1 Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Town of Essex

I drove 25 min to eat at the buffet, when I got there there was no buffet. Yet when the waitress brought the menu it clealy said " Buffet every Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday starting at 4:30 and it was 5:20. I should have left when that was a fail. I ended up ordering the Cantonese Chow Mein. It came out to the table and right away I could tell it had been microwaved. The noodles on the outside of the plate had burn marks from being put in dry. I went to take a bite of the broccoli and it was so hot it burned my lip. Another sure sign it was slapped together cold then microwaved. 75% of the noodles were still rock hard like they came out of the package. The waitress came over and asked how everything was, and when I said horrible the noodles aren't even cooked. She got defensive and said "we cook the noodles first in a pan", then walked away. Didn't ask if she could fix it or offer an alternative. I've personally burned noodles in a microwave a few times and it was exactly how they looked. Overall bad experience. I...

Poor service all around and on top of it all they want cash at the door after she told me she doesn't know if she can deliver or credit over the phone not sure how in 2023 I can pay via card at the door ... So options are this get savings if you pay cash and pick up or give your card over the phone before the food get delivered not knowing if you will even get it or if it will come warm or hours later or pay cash at the door but because I'm getting delivery I don't get any savings for paying cash .... First time ever hearing of this. Decided to pass on the food and who ever was on the phone had attitude until she heard I wasn't happy with these options and was going to write a review and all of sudden she had a customer service voice nothing against the place but we are in 2023 if your going scam the government and ask for cash at least make it...

No complaints today about the food, although we have had issues in the past. Unfortunately, what the complaint today is, if we are spending almost $67.00 for a family meal of 4 for pick-up, we expect there to be equal portions/or four of everything and the last thing I want to do before I eat a meal I pay for, is spending time going back to make a complaint like that Chicken balls should have 20, not 15 for a family of four and the Soo guy should have 4 pieces, not 3. Other than that, it was hot and proper tasting today, so we are appreciative of that. It sours the mood and taste when something goes wrong, so we didn't come in or call to complain.
