Original Michigan Diner — Restaurant in Town of Essex

We called to reserve 1 table for a group of 16. Was told ok, no problem. Arrived at the restaurant and got placed at 2 tables of 8. Enquired if there was another room, was told yes, BUT the heat WASN'T turned on in there and they aren't set up for a large group. We all placed our orders for dinner, 1 table with 1 waitress, the other table with a second waitress. When the food started to come out to the tables, 1 or 2 people got their dish at a time. By the time the last person was served, the entire 1 table was done eating and 4 of the 8 people at the 2nd table were finished eating. (Would have been nice if everyone was served within a couple of minutes....not over a 30 minute time span) When it was time for dessert the waitress asked if we had plates and silverware for serving/eating. We replied no, and were told that there is a cake service charge. No one told us in advance about this charge. The waitress got pussed off about having to provide the silverware and plates for all 16 of us. Then when the bills were given to the people, some were wrong and the waitress was pissed off again that she had to go correct the bills. (Not our fault that you didn't serve the meals as requested....forgetting gravy, not bringing salad dressing, not filling up drinks/bringing requested drink upon arrival) Highly recommend a change in staff because of negative (pissy) attitude, and for not helping make a special party feel comfortable with 1 table. If you can't accommodate a group then tell us. Not wait until we all arrive to find 2 small tables...

I brought in 3 other healthcare workers for lunch yesterday Oct 1/2020. We ordered drinks and I loved the first Caesar so, wanted another. I was the bottle of Caesar without the freshly rimmed/dressed glass. When I asked for a fresh glass. I was then given a Caesar-salt rimmed glass but no trimmings at all , . It did not taste the same without those pickles. There were two tables occupied for the first hour or so that we were there. Our waitress seemed occupied/busy with something beyond what we could see. We found it difficult to get service at times. Maybe she was not at fault, maybe too much was demanded of her. I have worked in the restaurant business for most of my working years, I can see pressure on a server: maybe she was new and needs a bit more training??? . Lighten up everyone; give your most important employee a break; show her the ropes. Having said that, the food was amazing as always. The portions , very generous and served hot as they should be. Three of us had Halibut and Chips Dinner...frikken amazingly delish. When she saw our Halibut arrive, the friend who ordered steak regretted she had not gone with the fish dinner. OMG a great meal was had by all...we all drove in from out of Essex because I had had the Halibut a few months back with family while visiting. My friends all agreed they'd like to try it. thank you for not disappointing. We all vow to travel back for that Halibut. Please...

One of the WORST restaurants I’ve been too in awhile, not only did they get our order wrong, which I informed them of allergies to red meat. They served us the same meal both containing red meat, one was correct but the other was ment to be a Greek pita with just chicken. Then the nerve of the higher up wait staff to say “well there is nothing she can do tonight”, so give her my contact information and she will have someone call the next day. Next day no call or any updates, I then went out of my way to contact them for them to say “oh our bad”, after I nicely told them mistakes and neglecting allergies could cause harm or even death. So they said come there and they will kindly give a refund or you can order just the pita and they will give you the meal. I went there for a refund because the food was already disgusting and I honestly didn’t feel comfortable eating there again. So they gave me $10.15 in cash for my refund? Which I paid 10.99 plus taxes. I understand that it’s only a few dallors, but I’m not quite sure how that makes sense? Nonetheless, one thing I can promise, I will never eat at this restaurant again, terrible food, awful, poorly trained waitstaff and I’m shocked they are even...
