I came here with my Mother, daughter (a minor) and my cousin today. I have to say they literally ruined my vacation. Went enter and My mother and cousin order followed by my daughter and I placing our order together. I order the roasted chicken with no onion as I am allergic. My daughter get the spicy chicken burger with just lettuce. My mom and cousin get theirs and it looked amazing, we were starving. I notice the young lady at the counter leaves looks like she had to do a delivery. It's been a while but we are enjoying the ac. A little annoyed the food is not out yet, its been 20 mins since my mom took her last bite and the older lady comes from out back and says the other girl was suppose to tell it was going to be a wait. Ok, while not happy I assume it will be soon. Another 25mins go by and the young lady returns, cool, I go up to see how long the young lady was nice she said was almost up. The older lady snapped I said it would be a wait. Ok cool I go sit down and moment's later the young drops the food at rhe table in to go boxes. I think it's weird cuz the other food came in cute baskets. I don't really care I just want to eat. I open the box and there is red onion all through it( Again I am allergic and I know I told them because I also made a comment of how I get embarrassed making a special order if I could pick it off I would) The young lady was very nice she went back spoke with the older lady ( I assumed told her of the allergy but not sure) My daughters order was wrong too it was covered in mayo and cheese. Anyhow I brought the box up told them I wanted a refund as it has onion I am allergic, the bread was toasted but was cold and very hard. My mother and cousin bread was not like that and was warm, I watched them eat. The young girl processes the refund while the older lady is yelling at me from the kitchen essentially trying to make herself sound good because now there is a crowd. I sit for a second while we figure out what to do and the older lady comes out and rage screams in my face because the young girl is crying and that I don't get to talk to her that way( mind you she is screaming at me in front of my Mother, daughter and cousin, telling me about not talking to someone in a certain way) I am sorry that the young girl got upset, truly I am but it was the older lady that was being aggressive and I was responding to her. A simple sorry and refund and we all could have gone on with our days. What I really don't understand is why my food could not have come out while the young girl was on delivery. It was already ordered, and the cook was there. Why did I have to wait for the young girl to return. It literally ruined my day 100% Ask the men working at the Mahone Bay Trading Co. I sat in their red chair crying for 15 mins as he supplied me with tissue. I didn't even buy anything from them and he was so nice. I went to one other store then drove home an hour away. This was suppose to be a fun day, one I was looking forward to. To clarify it wasn't the wait that ruined my day it was the older lady rage screaming at me over the fact she made me a sandwich I am allergic to, then finding she posted about me on Facebook name calling with no context to what actually happened and made light of her mistake of serving me my allergy in a box as a tiny mistake. In the food industry that is a huge mistake one that could have been a lot worse if I didn't see it before...
Read moreThis review is only for my negative experience with the lack of allergy awareness at this business. My husband and I were visiting the area and stopped in for a snack. Ordered hummus with tortilla chips. After eating two chips with a small amount of hummus I knew something was wrong. I have a severe peanut allergy. When I asked at the counter I was told the hummus contained peanut butter. That in fact all her hummus recipes contain peanut butter! I eat hummus all the time and have never had a problem. I usually mention I have a peanut allergy but didn’t this time because I as I said before I eat it all the time. Ingredients are chickpeas, tahini and lemon juice. I asked if there was a clinic in town and was told yes. I immediately left and went to the clinic where they took me right away and monitored me, reminding me that my reaction can turn on a dime. I used my epipen and they gave me a second dose a little while later and called ahead to the nearest regional hospital emergency letting them know I was coming. I was admitted into emergency observation right away and was kept several hours. Given an oral steroid and discharged another two hours later. We were on our way to Lunenburg but that didn’t happen. We had to drive back to our hotel in Halifax before it got dark out. Please write contains peanuts on the chalkboard menu beside the hummus so this won’t happen to someone else! This is a common and life...
Read moreHi! My husband and I love to check out little restaurants on Sundays... Usually, we go to "Joanne's" next door because of their superior Food & Baking... but they were closed until April 1st... so we tried out "The Nosy Crow" today, and our experience wasn't like the "raves" below... The dark haired woman on the Till was having a personal conversation, with what we thought was a customer... sniggering here and there... dragged on forever... we were in a hurry. FINALLY the woman behind the Till gave us a really "insincere snotty smile" and asked us what we wanted... W.T.H.?? It turns out, the clown she was interacting with either works at, or owns the shop next door called "Keliza"...the whole thing was rude... Joannes is way...
