Georgie's Cafe — Restaurant in Town of Nanton

My husband and I stopped into this charming little cafe while visiting Nanton for the day. After doing some research about their GF options, my husband (with a gluten allergy) settled on a grilled cheese sandwich while I indulged in the chicken/cranberry/brie meat pie. My pie was ABSOLUTELY SPECTACULAR, so much so I considered buying a bunch to take home but my husband reminded me we’re trying to find the bottom of our freezer - lol! Anyway, for anyone visiting Georgie’s, do yourself a favour and try one of these flaky, flavourful pies!! Unfortunately, my husband didn’t have the same luck with his GF grilled cheese…It was lacklustre and came on very small/thin sandwich bread, and would have been good as a snack but not substantial enough for a lunch. Sadly, he left pretty hungry. I heard several people ordering Americanos so they must serve a decent cuppa! The decor was shabby chic (which I 💜!) and the cafe is connected to a boutique filled with some local and/or hard-to-find gift-type items. Last but not least…the staff was friendly and...

I'm tempted to keep my love of Georgie's a secret but coming in from a rainy night camp at chain lakes park, we arrived a bit prior to their opening and there were people already waiting at a table. We ordered a full breakfast with eggs, toast,ham and bacon. And carrot cake, blueberry lemon cake, breakfast pie and chai latte. We ate the cakes first...i don't usually go for cake but these were so tasty: the icing was light, creamy and buttery, the breakfast pie was like a muffin but with a croissant style bottom with an omelette like center and shredded potatoes on top. The chai latte was huge an perfect, not too sweet. The breakfast might've taken the cake as the bacon and ham were sogood...not like any I've had, tasty, not too salty or heavy, the meat seemed healthy and clean....we had to come back the next day for more. WOW. We drove from calgary today for a slice of pav, sausage roll and a meat pie. 🤤🤤🤤 Got there just in time to nab the last piece of pav! The pavlova and meat pies are to die for. The pavlova was perfectly fluffy with a delicious crunchy crust. The pie.. where do i even start. Best pie i think i've ever had. I usually eat my meat pies with tomato sauce or ketchup. Putting sauce on these pies would be a crime. Fresh, flavourful, thick chunks of beef, perfectly baked crust. I havent had the sausage roll yet but if it's anything like the pie or the pav, it's not going to last long. If youre an aussie expat and have been craving a taste of home, Georgie's is a MUST. I will be dreaming of this day until my next Friday visit to...
