UPDATE: Down to 3 stars, as I feel that I was blamed for experiencing a gastro problem 1/2 hour after eating here. The fact that no one else gave feedback from that day does not mean no one else's afternoon ended the way mine did. About a week ago I came here for lunch while passing through. As a single guy who was working, I had no one with me. I sat myself at the bar/lounge side. Bartender was professional and friendly enough (kind of corporate friendly, as I call it). I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo, as that's sort of my thing. Most restaurants get it wrong but a few nail it, so I wanted to give them a shot.
Honestly, it was really good, and the portion size was better than expected. I do wish the focaccia bread was more substantial as the sauce does dominate the bowl. It was still good though.
As far as the visit itself goes, the pro would be as explained above, while the initial con was no straw with my Pepsi. I had to ask for one - can we stop with this? It's a little thing, but I don't know anyone who enjoys drinking anything with ice, without a straw.
Ok, so here's where the rating sinks a bit. And by sink, it's a feeling I had in my gut as I was leaving on the highway for Red Deer. Somewhere on the highway, my torso started to feel a bit odd. Fortunately it didn't present any sense of urgency, but an hour after I got home, and after I handled a client, my afternoon was pretty much done. My digestive tract decided to hurry things up, a lot. Now, it's POSSIBLE something else triggered it, but I can promise you I didn't eat anything for breakfast that would have steered me that way. So something may have been slightly off with the sauce or in-house noodles. A shame, because it was so damn good.
Anyway, I was back in town a week later. I felt that the previous outcome shouldn't cloud things. This time I decided on the burger. Definitely good, and the fries, definitely good. Again though, no straw. Actually, what made me feel slightly uncomfortable was that, just after I sat at the bar, a random server came up asking if I was there for a beer or for lunch.. I'm not clear as to why that mattered. Given that's two visits where there were no people sitting at the bar in the early afternoon, I'm starting to think I wasn't supposed to be on that side but they were too polite to direct me to the...
Read moreWhat an exceptionally wonderful experience! This was our first visit. After visiting Redz with our granddaughter and finding out that they are owned by the same wonderful people, we just had to come and try the food here as well. Everything looks and sounds so amazing that it was hard for us to decide on what to order. My husband ordered the butter chicken. It was sensational! I love spicy Indian food and, I usually feel that butter chicken is lacking in flavour but, after trying his, I would 100% order this dish in the future. Delicious! I had the Fettuccini Alfredo and I haven't stopped raving about how incredible it is! The homemade noodles were cooked perfectly and the sauce.... WOW!! So sooooo good! I am already craving it again! I also asked for a side of vegetables and, both my husband and myself thought that they were seasoned and roasted perfectly. Delicious! We were too full to eat dessert but brought home a carrot cake to share for later. We had shared one at Redz and think that it is the best carrot cake we have ever had. Not too sweet with just the right amount of icing and the cake is so moist! This has become my favourite restaurant and we will definitely be making trips from Blackfalds to visit often. Usually, I get photos of the food but, I forgot this time. Trust me... you want to go here! Our server, Lauren (I hope that's how you spell her name) was lovely as well. Just the right amount of care and so friendly! You can tell that she loves her job there and takes pride...
Read moreWent to eat here with our 3 year old and 1 year old. We waited for 5 minutes to be seated, then walks in a married couple who went in front of us and began talking to a waitress. The waitress then asked if the couple had a reservation. The couple then answered no they do not. The waitress then took the couple and seated them down.
After seating them the waitress came back to us and told us it would be a 20 minute wait for us to be seated. We responded that the couple that was just seated butted in front of us. The waitress said “oh, sorry”. And that was that. I was confused. Am I supposed to go to the table and call the people out? Who butts in front of a 1 year old and 3 year old? Am I supposed to go and make a scene?
I was absolutely bewildered. How as a father am I supposed to respond to something like this. Instead I just held my frustration and anger inside.
20 minutes later we got a seat and we ate our food. After we finished we left and we noticed that the couple had not even ordered food yet, they were still just hanging out sipping coffee.
I was extremely disappointed that the waitress did not go over to the table and ask the people to go to their proper place in line and allow us to have our proper seats.
If anybody has any feedback for me if I should have went to the table myself or what I should have done in this situation, please give me some feedback and let me know.
Otherwise here is my 1...
