This was both the first and last time we visited this cafĂ© â and thatâs not even mentioning the food. We placed our order and paid at the counter. I told my friend we would split the bill. She agreed. I tapped my regular credit card first, but the transaction didnât go through. I then used another credit card, inserted it, and entered the PIN â it worked. When my friend tried to pay her portion using Apple Pay and tried four different cards, the system didnât process any of them. The staff member at the counter reacted oddly and blamed our cards, saying we were âcausing problemsâ and âdisrupting service to other customers in line.â Weâre regulars in this neighborhood, and this was the first time we experienced something like this. It was clearly their payment system that was malfunctioning. Despite my successful payment, the staff member was so upset that she canceled my transaction and demanded cash instead. She ended up taking my friendâs cash for both of our meals and rudely said, âWe canât split your bill.â Unfortunately, that wasnât even the worst part. The food â a ricotta salad and bulgogi sandwich â was disappointing and far from tasty. My friend asked for a tray, and the woman handed her a small one and snapped, âWhy do you want a bigger tray?â â extremely rude. When we were about to leave (having left much of the food uneaten because it tasted awful), the woman behind counter told us to clear our own table and move the dishes to another one! Overall, this was a terrible experience. The atmosphere felt more like a grocery store than a cafĂ©, the food was below mediocre, and most importantly, the staff had a terrible attitude toward customers. Not recommended. Not worth the money â not even for...
Read moreI would not recommend this place. Staff treated me in such a rude way and discriminated against my health condition. I came in with my family for an early birthday lunch, and received attitude from staff for no apparent reason at all. We contemplated staying and ordering lunch and coffee, but after being made to feel uneasy I approached the staff to let them know that we did not appreciate the way I was spoken to and that we would be leaving. There was no attempt to try and resolve the matter. The invasive questions being asked about my health was none of the staff members business. I was simply given dirty looks and accosted by two staff members. Any business willing to talk to customers in a rude and unprofessional manner, and then not care to resolve it, do not deserve your business.... You're better off going to McDonalds or Tim Hortons, and I genuinely mean that, as the tables in Cafe Ricotta were also quite filthy. It doesn't seem like the staff takes pride in wiping down the tables after customers are done. dining there.
EDIT: Your response is untruthful. My elderly parents were already seated, so they removed their masks. We were also not a group of 5. As for the discrimination and the attitude, that was rude and your own staff acknowledged they should not have done that. Instead of being overly defensive, you should recognize fault where it exists. It's as if your staff is the mask police and has pre-determined prejudice for those who...
Read moreUpdate in 2023 Ordered what I thought should be a "hot food"- two sandwitches which one of them has even grill mark on the bread, were both very cold when it was served. As if they kept it in fridge kind of cold. When you don't display a ready made sandwitch at the counter the expectation is you make them right away and serve hot and fresh. Especially when bread clearly has grill marks on it. Overall gave me consistent feeling that they don't make anything fresh even for people who dine there. It's unfortunate the owner doesn't seem to read these reviews or take these feedback into consideration. Not sure if I would be back anymore.
We ordered croffle, bulgogi pasta, and banana pudding. Croffle was cold like you just got it out of the fridge and not that good. Perhaps it would have tasted better if they made it fresh or even warm it up. Pasta was ok. Banana pudding was too sweet for my taste. Overall, price is not too bad but I haven't found my favorite...
