We (five adults) passed by the beautiful Trois-Rivières on August 21, 2020 and decided to find a place to have lunch. We were looking for a place that can feed a vegan, a vegetarian and three omnivorous. We found El-Taouk on Google and headed there. It was at 3:00 pm that we entered the place. A man was sitting at a table. When we arrived, he went behind the counter and asked what we want. We started asking about the foods in English. He fluently said in English that he doesn't speak English and we need to speak French. That was fine; all of us knew basic French to order food, and a friend of us was fluent in French. Then we asked in French some questions about the foods and their ingredients since we needed to make sure about the vegan and vegetarian options. The guy didn't answer the questions properly, and impolitely referred to the menu board, but, of course, that was not enough for us... COME ON! Can't we ask any questions about the food ingredients?? Since we were running out of time, we decided to order Falafel, which we were almost sure that should be vegan. When we started to order, he said he is going to close the restaurant in five minutes, and he can't sell us food!!! What?!!?! We were very surprised by this rude behaviour! We came out and went to another excellent restaurant in downtown. We do not...
Read moreThe taste is great. I haven’t eaten shawarma that good since a long time. However, the size of the wrap is a little small and the price is a little high for the plates. The wrap fit in my palm and but its price is fine, $7. The plate is good and satisfying but it is double the price of a wrap, $14.5
Lastly, I don’t find it very nice trying to profit so much from a single can of drink. The cans/sodas are sold for $2 while their cost is probably just $0.25. They could if not chosen to profit 700% from it and just sell it for $1-1.5. Anyways.
We bought a wrap, a plate and 2 drinks and paid $30.
They have a nice patio that I liked. You can park your car on the street. They spoke English which was a relief for us 🙂 Overall, it is good. I would come back for...
Read moreI had my doubts after being used to terrible Taouk Resto, and it certainly didn't give a good first impression either when they wouldn't answer the phone and I had to walk there myself, or when the menu wasn't the same as the one online, and also when the students discount ended up being a lie, but damn if this isn't the best Lebanese food I've ever had (and I've lived in Montreal).
The service may not be up to par, but the quality certainly...
