No word of a lie: I will be telling everyone I know how much I LOVE this place! We visit Nova Scotia often to see family and explore a new area of this beautiful province, and this year we found ourselves around Truro. Many in our family have gluten allergies, and I was happy to find a place on the map that looked like it could accommodate; I was unprepared to fall in love with how good the food was! As I usually do, I asked the waiter what their favorite thing on the menu was, and wound up with the Mozza Burger. I took two bites, looked at my partner, and said, "... okay... we can move here!" It may have been one of the best burgers I ever had. My partner (both gluten and dairy allergies) was thrilled to be able to order safely in a diner, and our waiter went above and beyond to double check ingredients for her. We were so happy, we called my partner's brother (also gluten + dairy allergies) and came back for dinner the same day! I took the waiter's second-favorite, the roast beef hoagie poutine ("small" size was a full meal for me, the "large" is huge!), and it was AMAZING, again. My partner and her brother got fish and chips (rare treat to find gluten free), and declared it possibly the best they've ever had (and we have searched far and wide!) Virtually half our family is gluten free, and finding a place like Mary & Larry's is like striking gold; delicious food, great service, and peace of mind for those of us with allergies. We are already planning our drive back home to make sure get to...
Read moreBest fish & chips around Truro by far, while most restaurants in our area serve their customers French fries from frozen, this place will serve you fresh cut French fries, the fish is also very fresh and plentiful for your money. The owner still makes the pies from his mother's (Mary) recipes, she had a knack and made the best pies around here. The place is a little small and sometimes busy so seats are at a premium specially around lunch time, but we've never had to stand to eat our meal. Prices are very competitive and the menu is extensive. They have specials on certain days that are very popular. Service is prompt and friendly, they also follow protocols because of the pandemic. Too bad it's not closer for us, ah well! đŻ Today at lunch I had the Chicken Club wrap and fries, I was not surprised that it was delicious and filling. My spouse had the "best hamburger in town", she said, there again no surprise. Prices are very decent for the quality & quantity of the food served in that place.
1st of October/24, went for supper again, we ordered our favorites, it was delicious as usual, I found that the fish pieces were even bigger this time, and cooked to perfection. The staff was very efficient and friendly, there's a couple of new faces working there and they are on the ball. Great work...
Read moreIt did not say call to call for accurate pickup time as seen in photo. Said ready in 30-40 minutes.
Our experience happened last year. Thought weâd try it out since weâve heard such good things and it was on the way home from a day out. So I placed an online order to pick up on the way home with my 4 kids. It said ready in 30-40 minutes so I timed my drive home to be there by then. It took over an hour waiting for the food. There was barely anyone eating inside so it wasnât busy and I placed my order before 5. Waiting in the van with hungry kiddos wasnât pleasant and there was no offer of âsorry for the waitâ âŚfood was good enough I guess, but for something that is expensive and having to wait so long for, I doubt weâll be going back unfortunately. Itâs just too long to wait with kids. Idk, what I would of done if we were eating in with them with that long of a wait đ
Understandable about there being one cook on break. Just sharing how our first time experience went and how that kind of wait doesnât work for our family so we wouldnât be choosing to come...
