So far I went there three times Food was good, service was very poor. Because the food was good I decided to go again
Took my friend there after 3 months. We ordered Karahi, and we found a steel rivet that came out from the wok. We showed them the rivet and they started checking at my friends jacket(saying it may come off the jacket). Then the owner went in and found that the rivet from the wok was loose. He started explaining and never said sorry. We were offered that same dish. No exchange or nothing. They gave us free desert at the end. I was embarrassed because I brought 2 of my other friends and my wife there. I decided I will never go there again.
Yesterday, I don’t know why, I again wanted to try out their lamb chops,( the first time I went it was really tasty). And it was too bad this time. The plates were dirty, service was too poor, food was too bad, even from the look of it, it was not looking like edible.
I am never going back there again. You guys had a great potential. You ruined it, and if it continues I am sure you will have to close the restaurant in a couple of years
Edit 1: Sadly I can’t reply to the owner’s response. So writing it here : No he did not give us any refund/ discount on any dish, that’s a pure lie. And I had already mentioned that he gave us a free desert,
No, he did not apologize once. He came and started explaining how it can happen to anyone. He never said “Sorry” once.
You are a business, and we are the customer. If you serve well, we will go again. And I am not writing my review by just visiting once. I visited 3 times, and then wrote the review. If you still think it’s unfair, I don’t have...
Read moreThis was my first time eating at Dewan-E-Khaas. I must say that I have mixed feelings about this restaurant. The food was decent for the price, and the servings were fairly generous. It was flavourful and really captured the essence of Indian/Pakistani cuisine. The quality was good, however there was a slight lack of attention to detail, which I will elaborate on later.
For a restaurant that was packed, I do think they were understaffed. I counted two servers while the restaurant was operating at maximum capacity. I’m hoping this was just a one time occurrence and that they do usually have more employees working. The shortage of servers lead to long wait times for the order to be taken and the bill to be made. I had to ask multiple times. I also noticed the servers that were present seemed very exhausted from all the running around and weren’t very hospitable, which I won’t exactly blame them for.
As mentioned earlier, I encountered some minor problems with the food. I ordered a Goat Biryani and amongst the pieces of Goat meat I did find a few tiny chunks of Chicken. I personally don’t have a huge issue with that but I can see this being a problem for people with dietary restrictions/preferences or allergies as it could happen with any dish.
Aside from all that, I did find the overall experience to be pleasant! I do think there is great potential here and that it must be put to good use. I must say the complimentary Kashmiri Chai that was offered at the end was delightful, and a perfect complement to the Biryani. I would be happy to return to Dewan-E-Khass for more in the near future and will be sure to update this review if I notice...
Read moreWe ordered, butter chicken, daal makhni, chicken Karahi and Nihari. All dishes came with the choice of naan or rice. We also ordered 2 extra roghni naan. The ordered was delivered on time via DoorDash. We were excited for trying Dewan-e-khass first time. The butter chicken and daal were fine however Nihari didn't look fresh. It was not warm enough and tasted bland with no condiments on the side. The chicken Karahi looked more of a curry/salan. It wasn't kaharhi style at all. I called the restaurant and the manager named Muhammad was very courteous to acknowledge my concerns he made me speak with the chef Rakesh. Who welcomed my feedback and asked me to come anytime and he will replace the Nihari and chicken karahi to my liking. We brought the 2 dishes back the next day and Muhammad recognises he immediately took the food n went to the kitchen. As I was looking at the menu to order a replacement I was told that only Nihari will be replaced with another dish however they will remake the karahi. I told him karahi is a different recipe and I know how it is made and what they gave me isn't that at all...however the chef seemed little bossy in his approach so I agreed to accept a freshly made karahi. We got the food they gave us the mix grilled platter and newly made karahi with fresh naan. Overall our experience was good with customer service especially with Muhammad. Not very impressed with over all food quality and taste. Ordering from this place will not be my preferred...
