When Hà Nội Old Quarter Restaurant was in its original location on Victoria Drive, it already was one of our favourite Vietnamese restaurants 🇻🇳 in Vancouver, and we'd drive over 40 minutes just to dine in there. Fast forward to Sept 2024, they are now opened in the neighborhood I live in, and in my opinion, they have further improved and are now the best Vietnamese restaurant in Vancouver! 😋 The food, the service, the warmth & family style setting, the atmosphere and literally everything about this restaurant are truly amazing. We were blown away by the authentic taste of the Pho Ga, Beef Ribs Pho and the Pork Belly Vermicelli⭐️💫🌟. I've visited hundreds of Vietnamese restaurants across the world and the food here are seriously really good. We got the opportunity to chat with Rose and her team, and Rose's philosophy of approaching her staff and customers like family, and using the freshest of ingredients (such as crab meat 🦀 from Prince Rupert) and the love & passion they put into every item on the menu are truly reflected in every bite (we got to meet the head chef and told him the same). We also chatted with Nick and a few staff members who served us throughout the night and their services are truly world class. Nick was a delight to speak with, we've had lots of great conversations! We also look forward to trying the cocktails too, they sound great! We are already planning for our next visit in a few days! Keep up the great work,...
Read moreI had an exceptional dining experience at Hanoi Old Quarter Restaurant. It's an upscale authentic Northern Vietnamese restaurant in Vancouver. We live in Seattle, and we're more than happy to drive 2.5 hours just for their food, and let me tell you why:
Their food was authentic and amazingly tasty which we enjoyed every single bite of it. My partner and I tried fried crabmeat and pork spring rolls (nem cua bể), turmeric fish with fresh dills ( chả cá Hà Nội), beef stew with carrots in clay pot ( bánh mỳ sốt vang). The taste brough back my childhood memories with my mom's home cooked meal. Everything is just right, and blends with each other amazingly. Not only the taste, but the food presentation is elegantly simple and beautiful.
Their drinks are creative, too. It is an interesting combination between the west and the east ingredients. I highly recommended the tropical herb spash, I had an pleasent suprise when tasting it. Wow, it was amazing. Read their drink menu, you will be suprise for a story behind each drink, isn't that fun?
And we were lucky to have a conversation with Rose, the owner and chef of the restaurant, and that was the part I enjoyed the most. I can feel her passion and perfectionist in all the dishes that she cooks for her customers. Rose's love for Vietnamese food is contagious.
We've tried many Vietnamese restaurants, and this is the best Vietnamese restaurant by far. Can't wait to be back to try...
Read moreHad the best pho in Vancouver. The broth is very herby, which you can taste the hint of star anise and cinnamon sticks aromatic flavour in a fresh beef broth, the meats taste very fresh, as well as the deep flavour of sesame oil in the meatball.
The turmeric and dill fish is very fresh, where you can taste the balance of fragrant herbs marinated in a fish.
It's in the pricier side, but you can feel the quality difference. The menu is a little bit different with other Vietnamese restaurant, with food you can get only if you travel to Vietnam. What we love the most is the freshness and the balance of the ingredients, they're bold but not overpowering the taste. We'd say they don't put too much MSG like other places do, where usually we feel thirsty even after we had a bowl...
