four of us ate dinner last might and were very disappointed. We left hungry, never felt we had some comfort food. Perhaps we ordered incorrectly. I had the sagoniki, my husband and I shared the tasteless greek salad and my husband ordered the three dips. The staff was very poor, even though they told us they were training new people, it was slow, we were neglected, never asked if everything was okay. The restaurant was almost empty at 7:00. The greek salad was tasteless, chunk of feta cheese instead broken up pieces mixed in with the ingredients, no seasoning, greek spices , I usually devour a greek salad and most of it was left. The saganaka was good but the three dips were not great. We were disappointed that there were many greek dishes missing ie. chicken livers, moussaka. we might have been better off ordering one of their meat dishes for four however one of our party had food restrictions. The staff never explained to us how best to order. It should have been suggested that the three dips would be adequate as an app for four people, the saganaki appetizer for one and the salad taken off the menu unless they hire a proper cook. The fried zucchini which our friend ordered was lacking garnishes as well as taste. The one small chicken skewer my friend ordered for a an app was certainly not enough for one person. We are used to eating at greek restaurants and having a main course which comes with rice and lemon potatoes, garlic pita and tzatziki and a very tasty greek salad as well as the main course. Everything was extra. Turned out to be an expensive snack restaurants. Staff should be able to explain to people the size of the servings, how best to order, and menu should be re-done so as to be more hearty and filling. The losses during the pandemic don't have to be made up all at once. Leaving four adults hungry when they left is not acceptable. The old saying, you never get a second chance to make a first impression. If the first impression is bad, people never come back. Look at the line ups at Minervas, even though it is not primarily a greek restaurant, but the food is very tasty, the servings very generous, the staff even with a full restaurant and line ups are very attentive and service is great. No wine was ordered, the men each had one drink. none of us had coffee...
Read moreWe were in Vancouver from Edmonton and wanted to eat at a Greek Restaurant on days we had planned to dine out. We made a short list of three with Nostos Taverna among them. Of the three, Nostos Taverna had the most positive reviews. We phone to book a Saturday reservation two days before. We wanted 6 pm but were told we could only get a 5:30 pm reservation or we could wait until after 8. We opted for 5:30 pm. We didn't want to risk the restaurant running out choices of food. We took the difficulty of getting our first choice of time for reservation as a good sign. The place was busy.
And from the moment we arrived for our reservation, we were not disappointed. We were welcomed warmly. Our waiter patiently but eagerly described the various dishes. We chose the family platter for 4. Boy, lots of various meats! We didn't order anything else. That was more than enough, and everything was de-li--cious! From the sausage to the tasty chicken on a stick, to the beef and lamb. We should have had some salad but we said we would indulge with their very popular meat dish -- the family platter, which we saw quite a number of other people ordering. They do have an extensive menu, but we left hoping that one day we may go there again. We noted to go there definitely if we ever found ourselves in Vancouver. Before I finish, I just want to mention one thing going for Nostos Taverna. It's very well located. We didn't have a car but found it very easy to get to with its West Broadway location. Nostos Taverna was a superb Saturday experience for us that we'll remember for a long time.

First off people here a genuinely friendly, big smiles from the lady Boss and warm welcome from other staffs once we stepped inside, menu is simple and yet full of choices!
Since we love grilled meats, we decided to go for the Platter for 2, oh wow, when it came out, I thought I was Fred Flintstone!
Anyways, I have not had pork in Greek cooking that often, and was eager to try their Pork Souvlaki, one bite and I am hooked ( not many Greek places offers pork on their menus ), other items on the platter : Chicken Souvlaki, grilled Lamb Shoulder, Beef Patties, Pork Sausages, all came fresh off the grill with delicious char flavours! Oh and their fresh cut fries are also outstanding!
For $65.00 this is a great value for such a generous portion of quality meats!
As for sweets, please please try their Portokalopita ( Greek Orange Cake ) its a super super moist orange cake that goes well with a cup of coffee!
