Was looking for nearby Korean food and this place fit the bill. Inside is very casual with a basketball sports theme - it’s a fun place to be. We noticed they had a handful of vegetarian options, so we tried the truffle japchae and vegetarian kimchi tofu soup. Truffle japchae has a decent truffle taste, and good amount of texture for the veggie to noodle ratio. However, my only thing was that it was a bit too oily and I wish they would’ve cut the noodles like how you usually do just because the potato starch noodles are quite chewy. Then again, I could’ve just asked for scissors. The Tofu Soup was on point - great flavour, decent spice level and I have no complaints. It’s the perfect rainy day meal, but if you’re not big on spicy food, I wouldn’t recommend it because it has a decent kick considering it’s their standard spice level. Overall, I had a great experience here. They have some meat with cheese options I want to try in the future as well and it looks like they have lots of good options to come in groups of 4. The prices are reasonable, service fast and it’s a great casual spot for solid Korean food!

I visited Midam Cafe last week and I absolutely LOVE the experience. Good service. Will absolutely go there again. 1. BBQ Squid and Pork Belly 10/10 My favourite dish of the meal. Pork belly is PERFECT! It melts in your mouth and it’s super flavourful. Squid is delicious and there are a few rice cakes as well. I love the spice. HIGHKY RECOMMENDED! 2. Midam Platter With bulgoki 8/10 Go watch my last reel. You will be drooling for it. They have cheese, fried egg with rice, udon, bulgoki and corn. You have the option to choose pork sirloin or bbq squid and pork belly. It’s so satisfying to mix together. I also love the Burnt Rice at the bottom. I would say this portion is enough for 2-3 people. I find this platter on the sweeter side which I don’t prefer. I would rather have a spicy dish 💕 but it’s awesome to order this with your friends. 3. Tiramisu Shaved Ice 10/10 Love the tiramisu. The cake and ice cream have a strong coffee flavour. Shaved ice is so FLUFFY!! The best ones I’ve ever had so far!! I wanna try other flavours as well.

Recently came here with a friend for the first time. I have to say that I was super impressed. The food was delicious! So much flavour, and a nice variety on the menu. I also felt that we got our money’s worth when it came to the amount of food. The portions were exactly what you want them to be. Everything came hot and fresh. Nice atmosphere (except for the one flickering lightbulb). My only criticism would be that I wish the fried chicken was crispier. But the flavor was phenomenal which made up for lack of crisp. If your chicken were crispy I’d be here everyday so maybe a good thing. Also the service was just so-so. Our plates never got cleared when done. So my friend and I were just talking over a stack of empty plates and chicken bones for a while. We never asked if we wanted anything else or more drinks. Very minimal service. And it wasn’t busy at all. But this is just me being picky. I still give this place 5 stars. Can’t wait to come back.

The young girl server was so rude. I ordered the spicy chicken ufo and asked for less spicy. It was so spicy that even my Korean boyfriend who regularly eats spicy food said it was spicy. But this I can forego because spice is subjective but the rest of her behavior throughout the meal leads me to believe that it was intentional that she did not care to tell the kitchen that I asked for less spice (because she certainly did not write down our order) or she’s just a horrible person. One or two things is justifiable, but this, THIS is just terrible service. She would organize the utensils at her station so loudly, clanging it about; when we asked for more water, she banged it on our table, when we asked for more side dishes (cause she wasn’t attentive enough to notice) she reached over me and HIT MY ARM to grab the plate; after every order, she would bring the customers dish out to an empty table and take pictures/videos, spinning the dish around, (you just don’t do that in front of the customer, if you have to, do it in the back or at another dedicated time) multiple customers were watching her prance around with their food and just waiting for their dish to come to their table; even at the end of the meal, she didn’t notice that two tables of customers were done and we had to call her over. Tip is based on service, and even with this service I was going to be nice enough to give her 10% but she DID NOT give me the card machine at all. She was holding it the whole time, it had some stickers and French words on it, and in a panic, I ended up giving 15% (the lowest default amount). Honestly she deserved nothing! I liked Midam and was excited to show this restaurant to my bf but after this, we’re not coming back. Either she needs to be fired immediately or she’s the bosses daughter, in which they should also fire her because she is severely harming your business...

2025-09 edit:

First time coming during lunch on a Sunday. One server. Absolute chaos. I was seated at a dirty table with dried gochujang on the table. there were black flies crawling all over the garbage piled up in the bin close to the front door, right next to my table. Waited forever to order as I watched multiple parties who came in after I was given my menu get attended to by the solo host/waiter. I’ve been about 15 minutes and still no cup just a water carafe. No one should be made to work alone in a full house. Ordered 차돌돌솥 and it came out no sizzling and the egg was fully cooked thru. Food came then I got my utensils after few minutes after. Brought to me with the tissue/wrapped utensils also wrapped by the table cloth used to wipe a table that was stopped at on the way to me with my utensils. Gross. Absolutely horrific experience all together.

Shifting my rating down from 4 to 2

Original post:

This place had been on my list for a while. Both servers were pleasant, but a bit scarce around closing time. Some more check ins around this time would have been great even if kitchen was closed because I wanted a bit more side dish and also wanted to take care of my bill so I just chilled until they came out with the bill and machine on their own (maybe 15 mins before closing). And basically me and the other table left left without anyone present in the dining area when we did leave.

This location has cold noodles, and pork and squid options for their bibimbap and yaki udon, which isn’t something you get everywhere. They also have cold noodles, and a combo with protein options for their lunch special. Also have ginseng chicken soup.

I’d come back and give...

I would normally rate this place a 4 but docking a star because they forgot to put in our order. We waited over 30 minutes for our food and it wasn’t until we asked what happened that they apologized for it and said it would be another 5 minutes. 10 minutes later I asked again - and the waitress said she’d pay for our parking to extend it. Nothing but sorry. And trying to explain that their internet was down - And yet somehow everyone else got their dishes before us.. even if they came in much later. Groups that came in after us left before us (after having eaten and chatted and paid. We also had to wait about 15 minutes before my friend asked for the machine).

The food is actually decently priced and tasty. (If you want crispy KFC - don’t order the sweet and spicy, it’s not crispy at all...) But they are short staffed and obviously very forgetful. The food is a solid 4. Service is a 3 at best. Though nice even during our 35-40 minutes there no one came by to ask how we were. Understandably the restaurant was full - but if you cannot handle capacity then hire more staff.

I may just order to go from now on since what’s the point in going out if you go by have service? Or go for lunch when it is less busy and the staff can handle the capacity.

My biggest tip to the staff - apologize but don’t start trying to explain yourself over and over - your explanations...
