Sooo, I wanted to really like this place. But I can't ignore the awful food we have received, not once, not twice, not three times but four times! The first time I went, the rice was very fishy smelling. Which was strange, as no fish was being served at this restaurant. I'm a cook myself, so when I get served something that is not good, I know right off the bat. This rice was one of those times.
They use tons of dill seasoning in the rice to mask the smell of it going bad, and the fishy smell was overwhelming to the point of not even being able to have the container open in my office. I took it back, and I asked for a refund. Not only did they deny me a refund, they also denied the rice being off and offered me 10% off my next visit. Unreal. The sauce had gone sour as well, so they most likely don't have it kept in a temperature controlled environment.
The other 3 times my office went, everyone got violently ill. My manager just had the Chicken Platter on July 11th, and after a few bites she noticed it was off. She was only able to eat 1/4 of it and had to throw it out. With my experience of not being able to return bad food, I was discouraged from even going there to tell them the issue. She has since been throwing up every hour and not slowing down.
I don't write negative reviews like this (check my review history) but hopefully something can come from this and they can work on improving for future customers. The food looks great, but maybe practicing proper food safe would be best for...
Read moreI’m so glad there’s a donair place here again! New owners, but I would argue even better than the last place. Friendly service, super generous portions and nice added extra touches. I’ve ordered takeout once and delivery the other time and I’m happy to say delivery did not disappoint, they got all my notes, didn’t skimp on portions and they even surprised me with an end of the night baklava which was a sweet surprise.
My go to order is the chicken/beef/lamb combo plate. Chicken is super juicy, everything well spiced and I like that the shawarma is a beef/lamb mix. I LOVE the dill flavoured rice that they serve, I’ve never seen that and think it’s such a unique tasty touch. Even their salad is delicious with a mix of lettuce, tomatoes, pickled red cabbage, turnips and tabouleh. Yummy hummus and pita on the side. One order is almost two meals for me. Make sure to ask for garlic sauce and sweet Halifax Donair sauce! Happy to support this small business and can’t wait for...
Read moreHad a bad experience today at this donair shop. I came in, ordered and even tipped. I ran outside for 30 seconds to lock my car door to return to a pre made donair without ever being asked what I’d like on it. He hands me a mystery donair and asked why he didn’t ask me what I wanted on it. He told me “ I didn’t know brotha, you just left so I didn’t know” I told him i would like a new one made and he was rolling his eyes and very immature about it all. I explained what if someone has allergies or dislikes a certain sauce or vegetable. He just kept being immature and hostile. I also asked for sauce after he continues to reluctantly make a new one with what I wanted, and uses the back of a spoon instead of the actual spoon to apply some hummus. I even said thanks after he packaged it and he didn’t say a word or make eye contact. Not sure if it’s family owned or not but that boys bad...
