Came here for a quick meal before the movie. First mistake. The service was extremely slow even though it wasn't that busy (there were 2 servers). My husband cannot have any meat (seafood is okay) so he ordered a combo of fried rice, shrimp, and vegetables. We had asked our server if the fried rice had any meat and we had even told her that my husband cannot have any meat and she had clearly stated that there is no meat in their fried rice. About 30 minutes later, our food finally arrives. Right away, I noticed that in the rice, I could see little pieces of pork or beef. It took us awhile to flag the server down but once we got her attention and told her about the meat in the rice, she did not look apologetic but instead looked at us not knowing what to do. She then eventually brought the plate back and brought us a new plate with what seemed like rice with no meat. But, then we realized that this new plate didn't have the shrimps, it had beef and vegetables. We were honestly so confused with what was presented to us when we had clearly stated no meat. (Even if the meat is removed, as long as it is touching or was touching anything else, it cannot be eaten.) Took awhile to flag the server down again (at this point, there was 10 minutes left before the movie started). My husband had lost his appetite and we still wanted to watch the movie, so I packed my food to go and went to go pay. We were even more shocked when we noticed that the server charged us for my husband's dinner, even though he didn't touch it and couldn't even eat it. Definitely was a super...
Read moreService was polite and the food was piping hot (which is good). However,
From a foodie perspective: Shockingly bland. This food is as Chinese as Betty White is. Both rice and noodles were entirely un-seasoned and easily recognizable as the instant and pre-made varieties commonly found in grocery stores. Other food items were obviously pre-made frozen foods tossed into a deep fryer or other heating appliance. This restaurant is essentially the equivalent of a microwave oven in a bachelor's suite.
From a business stand point: Considering this establishment's sales are steady, it must be excessively profitable to sell the cheapest ingredients possible at these prices. Good for them.
So then, why 2 stars instead of one? Well, let's consider other local options.... which are essentially non-existent. If you're looking for other than pizza and burgers, this is...
Read moreAfter a long day of travelling from the coast we stopped in Vanderhoof to get something to eat. So we stopped at new pagoda restaurant and order something to go. The food was made pretty fast but I would give that up for better food. When you got your rooms we found out that the eggs rolls were Undercooked. The garlic ribs were dry but not very much garlic and not very much like meat. The ginger beef was Slided Beef with sliced onions sliced Ginger strips. We could not finish any of the meal and when we called the restaurant to complain they said they don’t give refunds because everybody’s taste is different I don’t Know anyone that would like the taste of this food. And when I told them that I would leave them a bad Google review it was just a long pause and then they hung up. So if you’re travelling through Vanderhoof do not stop...
