Fancy Sushi Restaurant — Restaurant in Vanderhoof

Usually there is parking in front of the restaurant. Fancy Sushi is one of our favorite places to eat sushi and they keep the plates coming! Its good to find classy food fare in this little city. Sushi is served on long dishes, and the rows are beautifully laid out. You can order what sounds tasty from the menu, and also there are tv monitors that scroll through images of what looks good with names on the images. We always begin the meal with gyoza while we wait for our sushi. Their green tea comes in a huge pillowy teabag that will make a strong tea. I advise getting a pot of hot water for a few cups. Goma-ae is a tiny and tasty spinach or avocado in a light dressing. I ask for mango with salmon tataki. There is a good selection of spicy tuna, salmon, crab and shrimp maki rolls. Tables have good space between them. The atmosphere is quiet and calm, the acoustics of conversations at tables around the main room are usually pleasant and not overly audible. It was really exciting to learn of Vanderhoof getting a Japanese restaurant as sushi is one of my favorite dishes. The renovation they've done on the restaurant both inside and outside is very inviting and really has a nice atmosphere. The server was friendly and welcoming and really paid attention to the table. The food I ordered was freshly made and looked and tasted delicious. The sockeye salmon sashimi was incredible. The only criticism I have is most Japanese restaurants I've visited over the last few decades always have real Japanese green tea and don't charge for it as well as usually you're given a small bowl of miso soup also no charge otherwise it's definitely a place I would go back to and...

As an advid sushi eater, and love trying new spots and new rolls. This spot has alot of potential as its a new restaurant in a small town. The rolls were fairly tasty. Slightly disproportionate, and on the smaller size. Presentation was beautiful, tonights service started strong and started to teter off, with no follow up as food was consumed. The vibe and design is beautiful. Look forward to becoming a repeat customer and watch the improvements as they work out all the kinks :)
