On a rainy night, I was driving home to my wife from Vaughan and was looking for a sushi place open late.
Sushi Lolo showed on Google Maps and looked quite promising from prior reviews and photos. And so I placed an online order for takeout.
The restaurant itself is cute, with 3 tables for seating (although the restaurant is takeout only due to our current situation). The decor is updated and was appealing to the eye. It was very clean and well-kept.
I picked up the food and took it home so my wife and I can eat (about a 30 min drive). I must say - I have had takeaway sushi before, along with a lot of other various sushi place dishes (chicken karaage, gyoza, etc.) By far, this sushi place is the absolute freshest I have had in recent memory.
My wife had Shrimp tempura and VMC roll. The torched salmon and other ingredients were fresh fresh fresh!! I have never had ingredients so fresh before. The shrimp tempura was not like other restaurants. The shrimp was not overly covered in tempura, and you could actually taste the shrimp and feel the texture between the shrimp and the batter. A very welcome change from the other takeaway restaurants. The other reviews say that the rolls are huge. They aren't wrong - I see it the other way. Their value for money is AMAZING!! You definitely get your money's worth on even one roll! I remember going to AYCE places and getting rolls, and the rolls would come out the size of a toonie. No, these rolls are the size of walnuts. One roll is too big for you? I say... Enough to feed 2 people, or have leftovers!
I had the gyoza and the karaage. Gyoza came out slightly soggy (it was a long drive) but they were filled with delicious meats, and the quality was not affected (I like the crispy end bits anyways). The chicken karaage was a mix of large and small chicken chunks with a sauce drizzle on top. This is my favourite dish to get from any restaurant and (to me) is a good baseline for deciding quality between restaurants, and this karaage was amazing!! There was a mix of crispiness, a mix of softness, and a mix of umami and sweetness that I find so desirable.
If I were in the area more often, I would come here more often. Not much brings me up to Vaughan anymore unfortunately. But when I'm around, and my wife and I are craving some sushi, you bet this is going to be my go-to place!! Sushi Lolo, keep it up!!...

One of my favourite sushi places in Toronto. It's a shop run by a mom and pop. There's toys everywhere cause the kids are playing whilst their parents are making a living. So it's a take out only place. Which is written right in front of the door. so don't expect any place to sit and eat. Fantastic service and very nice couple.
The food was amazing. We ate before arriving but bought cause we wanted to get some while we were in the area before leaving. We ended up eating the whole thing in the parking lot before we left just cause of how good it is. massive rolls packed with tons of ingredients and the rolls were perfectly wrapped and each ingredient inside separated into perfect quarters.

Read moreNew spot opened up near my work. It is a Take Out only right now. They have a small space that has tables but I think because of the pandemic they chose not open that part of their resto. From what I've ordered so far it taste pretty good. It's not really a complaint per say but their sushi is huge. Very hard to pick up with chopsticks. Very filling thats for sure. Another thing is everything cost "extra" . More drizzle of eel sauce, spicy mayo is extra. Check them out for yourself. Order ahead of time and check...
