Dosa Delivered, the Rest Took the Day Off
We recently visited Dosa Boyz and had a mixed experience that left us a little torn and cold (literally).
The dosa? Absolutely no complaints. It was crispy, flavorful, and clearly made by someone who knows what they’re doing. If everything else had followed that lead, this review would be glowing.
Unfortunately, the chicken momo didn’t quite live up to its name, it felt more like a vegetable momo in disguise. Tasty? Not really. Chicken? Barely. As a Nepali, we know what a good momo tastes like, and this one missed the mark in both flavor and content. For the price, we expected at least a cameo appearance from actual chicken.
The pani puri was also underwhelming. The water tasted plain, almost like it forgot it was supposed to bring the party. We kept waiting for the tangy punch, but it never showed up.
We ordered two teas, but they were forgotten. Later, we were told tea wasn’t available, a bit of a letdown, though to their credit, the staff offered us kadak chai instead and even brought out a sample to try. That was a thoughtful touch, and thankfully, the tea turned out to be quite good. Silver linings!
The ambience could use some attention. The floor was wet enough to make you question your footwear choices, and while live music is always a nice idea, the setup felt like it came together at the last minute. Add to that the temperature, freezing to the point where it felt like we were dining in a walk-in fridge. We asked if it could be adjusted, but were told it might become “suffocating,” so we stayed bundled up instead.
All in all, the dosa was a winner, but the rest of the experience felt a bit unprepared like a team that showed up but forgot to practice. The place definitely has potential, but it needs more consistency, attention to detail, and maybe a towel...
Read moreA Chilly Experience at the Dosa Spot Walked into the restaurant expecting a quick, comforting dosa fix—but the experience fell short. When we entered, there were only two tables occupied—a family at one and a couple at another—so naturally, we assumed service would be swift. But surprisingly, our order still took time, which is puzzling for a dish like dosa that’s typically fast to prepare and serve. The chutney was served cold, which dulled the flavors right off the bat. And instead of the usual mozzarella, the dosa came with cheddar cheese—a gooey, tangy twist that didn’t quite work. It made the dosa soggy, and the flavor profile just wasn’t my type. To make matters worse, the AC blasting, and with food served on steel plates, everything cooled down rapidly. What should’ve been a warm, satisfying meal turned into a cold, limp experience far too quickly. The only redeeming item was The Chicken Sukha dosa —flavorful, well-balanced, and rightly done. It stood out as the one dish that felt worth the visit.
The concept had promise, but the execution missed the mark. Between the slow service, odd cheese choice, and freezing ambiance, it didn’t deliver the comfort and flavor you expect from dosa joint. Might give it another shot if they tweak a few things—but for now, I’ll be exploring...
Read moreDO NOT GO THERE, WASTE OF MONEY The food and service was terrible. The restaurant was so cold. Went with my family. There was hair in the chapati, to get the attention of a server it took forever to show, then they took my plate away after saying sorry. It took another half hour to get me a new plate, only this time forgot the pickle that came first time with the dish. Waited for the server to come and they never did, so had to go again to the counter to request for the pickle and the server asked me "really you did not get it" I told her to come and check my table if she would like to. She then went about doing her own thing waited another 10 minutes asked another waiter and they then brought it. I was so upset I could not finish my dinner and did not want to spoil the dinner with the kids so asked for a box, and the server lady said let me ask if I can give you a box for the dinner since it was Thali, just when I was about to say its okay leave it another server gave me a container. I totally blame the management for being short staffed and not providing the training necessary. There was a supervisor or the owner not sure did not come out to apologize. The food tasted so stale. They charged us full for the worst dinner- what a...
