It comes as no surprise that Mexican restaurants are a vegetarian's best friend due to their customizable options. However, something that's even better is an entirely vegetarian Mexican menu. And that's exactly why I visited Jane Bond (5 Princess St W, Waterloo, ON N2L 2X7). A vegetarian restaurant with live music, this place perfectly captures the Uptown Waterloo vibe, with enough options for any dietary restriction! We started with the classic appetizer - the chips and dip were a delightful treat, with a sizable portion that left us more than satisfied. The salsa and vegan French onion dip complemented the crunchy chips perfectly, so much so that we had to take leftovers home. Next up was the filling entrees! The chimichanga was a delightful surprise, stuffed with beans, veggies, and cheese, and lightly fried for a perfectly crisp, yet not overly oily bite. Paired with flavorful rice, a fresh side salad, and creamy guacamole, the dish was both satisfying and freshly made, leaving us completely full and content. The Munch Wrap Supreme was even better! A cheesy delight, packed with beans, tomato, lettuce, and sour cream, the burrito created a perfect blend of textures. Served alongside freshly made guacamole and homemade salsa, the vibrant mix of flavors made the dish incredibly tasty and satisfying.

Read moreWe were waiting to try this place for years since we saw it on "gotta eat here" show in the UK. First the place was busy, so We waited an hour for starters, so we thought at least the food would be fresh and tasty. But the nachos were just a plate of plain nachos and salsa with no salt and black beans on the side. The button mushrooms were tasty, the only thing we found tasty. We ordered 4 different mains eggplant parmagiana, jerk burrito, chilli and enchilada. Everything lacked in flavour. For a vegetarian place, nothing had veggies in it, literally not even one green pepper. Burrito was just seitan, rice and beans. No sauce and no veggies. Eggplant parmagiana was a dry sandwich with marinara on the side. We are all vegetarian, and we have been to much much better vegetarian / vegan places in the GTA and surrounding areas. The food lacked flavour and innovation. On top of that the server was really rude, she constantly served food over my baby who was in a car seat. When I asked her to be careful she replied abruptly " don't worry i won't drop a plate on your baby ". Any time I go to restaurants, servers always make it a point to not serve anywhere around the baby. Bad experience, bad food. I am confused as to why all the reviews say the food is amazing. They must have not tried any really good veg places that are worth...
Read moreI went here for my birthday with friends, and we all had a great time. The food was amazing, and the vibe was the best I've seen in a restaurant. The server was also sweet. However, since we are all students, we are not in the habit of tipping, but one of my friends tipped. The server at the end said something, her exact words were "I am only going to wish u good night cause only u tipped and no one else did", she said this to my friend who tipped and this shocked all of us cause this is the first time we encountered such a situation cause servers at other restaurants don't do this if we don't tip. And after that she came back and started clearing the glasses off the table and we could see how pissed she was. That honestly ruined my mood, and I didn't feel like it was my bd anymore. My reasoning behind this is that I value my money more than she values getting it from me. If I were stingy, I wouldn't have gone to the restaurant in the first place. The way it came off to me was that how ppl let go of their values or the way they treat other ppl in exchange for money. I might be wrong, but that was the worst way to end the night. But otherwise it's an amazing place and the food is...
