This is my personal opinion based on my own personal experience where I visited it with my friends. Some entry controlling staff are inexperienced in making a judgement on a perfectly sober guest and denying him entry on grounds of not being sober. I am myself smart serve certified for several years now and aware of the need to prevent non sober guests from entering in best interest of all and also aware of the techniques used to make the judgement. However the entry controlling staff to me seemed completely inexperienced in handling situations where a red eye can be due to contact lens irritation, and a guest can have variation in accent or may misunderstand accent, but is perfectly sober. In my opinion individual diversity wasn't appreciated and more experienced personnel are needed that are able to take into account the whole picture before jumping to identify a false positive. This isn't a personal grudge. Being myself smart served personnel, I know fully the underlying details behind the process, and to me it definitely seemed a case of blunt/hasty decision making. I believe the personnel need to understand diverse guests with their unique contexts, before reaching hasty conclusion on whose sober and whose not, and accordingly take carefully analysed decisions considerate of individual diversity. I fear that there might be similar other instances where the personnel controlling entry, is failing to prevent false positives which is an equally important responsibility as identifying a real positive is. Also calling the website number went unanswered and there doesn't seem any easy way to provide them customer feedback/grievances/suggestions for improvement. No personal grudges against anyone but I felt this needed to be written towards an attempt to bring management's attention to much needed improvement in their policy development and execution. I and all my friends regret visiting it and did not have a satisfactory experience.. especially absence of any clear mechanism to address customer...
Read moreI came here looking for a bite to eat as I was on my way back to Toronto and never been here. I was having a great time until I called the manager over and asked him what that was in my chicken strip. It felt like plastic or rubbery and was disgusted to find it in my chicken strip. He immediately took it to the back and showed the chef and said they never seen that before. This is where it all went downhill. The manager on duty was very rude and condescending as if I had hatched an idea to get a free meal which by the way the whole menu is only $8. He initially said he can’t comp the meal as I ate most of it which shocked me. I just had the most disgusting piece of chicken and could’ve thrown up just thinking about what that was and he didn’t want to comp the meal. Eventually he did but I asked him what about my beer to which he said “what is wrong with your beer?” I looked at him saying Nothing is wrong with the beer it’s actually quite good and needed it to wash that disgusting piece of chicken down. He said he can’t comp the beer as there was nothing wrong with it. I couldn’t believe it and went over to him holding my beer saying this is unbelievable. He again said nothing is wrong with the beer and then proceeded to take the rest of my beer about half a pint left and pour it down the drain. I asked him why would he do that as I need a drink still to wash that chicken down. This is when he pulls out a glass and hands me some water. I said I ordered the beer and would’ve liked to finish it I couldn’t understand what his problem was. He said he can’t have me finish the beer if I wasn’t gonna pay for it. I absolutely was in shock the manager had poured my beer down the drain. This was the worst experience I even said to him if I get sick after eating that chicken you guys can get sued and his response was “are you sick now?”. I said it doesn’t happen right away. This manager should not be managing any establishment and I’m shocked at the way he had...
Read moreA night that started off okay but turned for the worst. Thankfully the manager arrived and cooler heads prevailed. It started with simple double charge which my friend bailed out the server by just graciously accepting to just get a second round of food since the first was quite tasty and came out quickly. Unfortunately, the second round took quite a bit longer, which prompted us to sit at our booth waiting as all our friends were out dancing and enjoying the night. We asked our server for an ETA or if there was any other way to just get something else that could be made quicker, to which he rudely said, "no you said you wanted food and it will be ready in 60 seconds". 5 minutes later he brings out the food, and my friend proceeds to let him know how dissatisfied he was with the service and asked if there's anything he can do for him. The server excuses himself and leaves us to eat our food. Not even 2 minutes later we get ambushed by a group of security guards, telling us we have to go because we were being rude to staff. We again ask him for clarification but this security guard was clearly on a power trip as he proceeded to lie to us and tell us that he was the manager and he wanted us gone. Completely inappropriate way to treat paying patrons. Fortunately our friends who were there with us were able to locate the actual manager who clearly has experience talking with people as we were able to communicate with him and negotiate our stay to enjoy the rest of our night. I appreciate the manager but that server needs to learn how to better deal with stress and not just run to the security guards whenever someone criticises the service. I get the stressful environment but there was no need to dehumanize us and want to kick us out for trying to resolve...
