So it has been 18 years since my wife and I went on one of our early dates here. We loved it! It was always one of those things that one of these days when we're back in the KW area we have to go back. Well it finally happened. The service was prompt and friendly. We were even chatting with the owner who happened to be on the patio when we arrived. He told us the story of how it's been in the family for generations and that they have their own brewery. I absolutely loved the Lion Red Ale! The food was delicious too. My wife had the salmon and I had the bacon wrapped meatloaf. The portions were great as well. After all the friendly chit chat he actually gave us a plaque of the Red Ale! I know we'll back soon! Its worth the drive from St. Thomas!!!

During our walk in the ols town of Zurich we come across this lovely building and decided to have coffee and snacks before another long walk around the town. History shows that this little cozy building has been in this town for centuries and its history is as follows: Cafe 1842 is located in a historic building in the heart of Zurich. In 1842, the Eberle family opened a bakery which would later become the “Schober Confiserie”. In 1874, the confectioner Theodor Schober-Wolber acquired the building and founded the now famous cafe in the new baroque style. As of their food... must try is their hot choco, hazelnut cake and their cheese quiche. You can’t go wrong with these choices... 11032019

The Huether is a really cute place to grab food or a coffee! Service is great and the place seems to be very clean. Only negitive thing about the place is that the owner of the resturant is abusive to staff, I've been there on occasion when a staff member gets openly scolded by the old lady who is the owner in front of customers, which is awkward. Other then that I absolutely love the food, and the waitresses are great.

My friend and I walked in to have a nice dinner. At the end, we left feeling very dehumanized and embarrassed. The whole thing started after we had ordered 2 bottles of water. After serving the water, the waitress proceeded to insist that we pay for the water before ordering our meal. How absurd I thought? However in questioning her, I quickly realized we were being discriminated. She lied that it was ‘policy’ to pay before eating and the ‘manager‘ himself revealed that was because of a prior issue they claimed to have with my friend (and NOT due to ‘policy’)

This ‘manager’ was a smallish, blond man who claimed to be the owner of the establishment. We were trying to have dialogue with him and when he got frustrated with being civil, he turned hostile and violently asked my friend and I to leave. He looked me in my face and told me I was irrelevant and that he didn’t care abut anything I said. Imagine my shock!

I believe he lied about his position due to his arrogance, lack of class and plain disrespect for customers. I KNOW no owner would ever behave like that regardless. I’m not saying my friend and I were saints, but we were civil and trying to explain our concerns.

This ‘manager’ doesn’t care about business and treats people very poorly. He and his staff lack common decency, respect and don’t take their time to do anything. Rushing to serve food won’t make people come back especially when the service makes you feel less than a human being.

I’ve never had such an experience and it was painful but also a harsh learning experience. There are so many uneducated people out there who use agression and hatred to solve simple problems.

Édit: I’ve just read a little about the owners of Heuthers online and my anger has been calmed because I know for sure they are not good people, confirmed by...

Service was horrible, you would order drinks , the drinks wouldn’t come , you’d ask your server they’d reply with “ it’s sitting on the bar downstairs I’ll be right back “ 25 minutes later , still no drink , ask again “ oh yeah it’s still on the bar I’m busy “ we had a very large group , who wanted to order lots of food and drinks but unfortunately every time we tried to order the order was either wrong or didn’t come at all.

People got charged for drinks that were made wrong and did not consume , server said “ I can still charge you because the drink was drinkable “ we asked to see the manager the manager said “ what do you expect me to do?”

I use to absolutely love love love this place now I’m embarrassed I ever raved about it or recommended it to family and friends. Servers were rude and disrespectful. Food was also not the same as it once was, the chicken wings use to be absolutely amazing, massive and super saucy .. wings this time around super small dry and over priced. More disappointed in the attitude we received when we asked questions as to why it was taking 30-35 minutes to get a drink. This was a large going away party, no cutlery was set out or water on the tables ( we booked reservations for 30+ people) simple courtesy/good service I guess doesn’t exist there anymore. We were all also refused service when we tried to go to the bar to open and close a tab just for one drink since our server couldn’t handle our orders , the bartender replied with “ you have a server , I’m not taking your order we don’t really do that “ again this was an amazing spot 2 years ago , now...

I have been going here for a few years sporadically and while it was pretty expensive but decent when I started going here things have deteriorated to the point that I cannot in good conscience give it more than 1 star.

First of all, the service is just pretty terrible. Extremely slow, every time I have went here the past few months it takes upwards of 10 minutes just to get a pint of cider / pitcher of beer, etc. On top of that, the utensils and glasses have been either poorly washed or not at all, with visible contamination often present.

Second, the food is not only overpriced but it takes forever to arrive (last time I was here took 50 minutes for burgers, the portions are terribly small (the burgers are about the height of something you could get at McDonald's, and many people in my group swear by the size of other dishes, such as schnitzels, being half the size they used to be a year ago). Also, the food is often poorly prepared, the amount of times people in my group had to complain about burnt meat (charred black, not well done) in burgers is ridiculously high.

Lastly, the drinks are over priced as well. To be fair, they are not hugely more expensive than other options in waterloo, but considering everything else paying 20% more for beer is a bit ridiculous for a venue this shoddy.

Considering the terrible service and quality of food, the prices should not be the highest of any pub in waterloo. The only positive thing I can say about this place is that they have unique beer and are never full (they have 3 levels of...
