Golden Grill IV Family Restaurant & Tavern — Restaurant in Welland

I would first like to say they this is my first bad review ever and I am not super happy about even posting this… I work in customer service dealing with complaints just like this all the time, so I understand that there are always two sides to every story. My experience at this restaurant actually happened a few days ago, so it has been weighing on my mind a bit to say the least because I was so disappointed with this situation. My husband and I used to eat here all of the time back in 2021-2022. It was our favorite breakfast place! We loved it! Long story short - life got busy and we hadn’t visited this restaurant until recently. My whole family was with me during this particular experience. We walked in around 12:30-1pm on a Sunday (they close at 3) and waited to have someone greet us or tell us where to sit. Looking around, every single booth was dirty (which I am not judging at all - I get it to an extent) so we continued to stand there in the doorway… and be completely ignored for another 10-15 minutes. The two servers weren’t doing much and could have absolutely at least smiled or told us to give them a minute during this time. It definitely felt like they were annoyed we were there… they wouldn’t even make eye contact with us. One of the servers finally came over and asked (and not nicely, by the way) “did you find a table”? Why, no. I didn’t. They were all covered in dirty dishes 😂 We were already upset for not even being acknowledged when we walked in and that’s how you greet us after you ignore us? She proceeded to tell us to pick a seat (we pointed to one of the dirty booths and she starts to clear off the table). I have never ever done this in my life - but I walked out of the restaurant and we went to a different place to eat. I know this sounds petty but I seriously used to love this place. We were good tippers and patient customers. It may not seem like that big of a deal but it’s just not the type of service you expect especially from a place that we had nothing but good things to say about previously. The food is great there! The service has just gone downhill since new management has taken over. So...

I’m not one to complain…But - my family and I moved to Welland about 8 months ago, we have 2 young boys ages 7 and 5. We had been looking for a good restaurant in our area, we thought we found one on Ontario Rd Here in Welland there is a little place called Golden Grill.

We have been there 5 times already, excellent food, good portions…always had great service: problem last time we were there a waitress, perhaps middle age waited on us, she was polite but what she was wearing shocked both my husband and myself. She was wearing a dress very low cut - in fact she bent over to put our ketchup, jam, etc. on the table and my husband sat back. I was appalled at this and my 7 yr old commented daddy “that lady’s boobies are hanging out”. I thought this was a family restaurant. I asked a younger girl who was there also what the waitress’ name was serving us, she rolled her eyes and commented, “Kim is her name”.

We have been in there before and all seemed good. Who am I to say how the owners run their business but one thing for sure, we won’t be going back there.

Edit: owner replied. I appreciated that, however the fact remains I saw a young person in the kitchen area with no head covering, and there WAS a long hair in my food. The toast that fell on the floor was not being served, was just a point I was making. I hope they can improve their premises, and make it cleaner.

Went in for breakfast about 12:15-12:20. Apparently they just had finished a big rush, limited staff on hand. So expectation was a longer than normal wait, which we were told about. The premises is very run down, bench (booth) padding is severely ripped, the entire place needs a good cleaning. Person that was cooking had longer than shoulder length hair and no head covering. After a really really long wait, till 1:15, we finally received our meal. (Ordinary eggs, bacon and toast, nothing “off menu”) Wrong toast on one, the other one, toast was dropped on the floor, and there was a hair in the third one. The home fries looked burned. After finding a long brown hair embedded in the home fries, we paid for coffee and left. Totally...
