Volcano Pizzeria — Restaurant in Welland

My family has been buying pizza and wings here since the 1970s. The pizza and wings have always been consistent throughout the years. If you haven't ordered here before, ask them what their pizza style is like because if you are expecting some sort of run-of-the-mill mega-chain pizza experience you will not get it here. Pizza crust is not thick and doughy but delightful, thin and chewy/crispy. If you like thin pizza crust no one else beats this place. If you don't like thin pizza then don't complain just because it is their style. Having been to Italy a few times I have enjoyed pizza like this over there and it is highly desired. Personally I love this place. Wings and sauce are fantastic and every bite of their pizza is heavenly. We have always come here for the food and not necessarily for friendly banter. Personally we find the people and service perfectly fine. I see some people have complained about the folks on the phone being curt but they are a busy place, taking lots of orders so they don't have time for silly chitter-chatter. They have to be efficient and communicate clearly and crisply because it is a small business so keep that in mind please. Also, this place stylistically hasn't changed in decades so don't expect a white-washed pristine looking place inside. They sell great food which is mainly takeout so why invest in the interior. At least that's my take because most people could care less because it's about the food man. My grandparents used to live a few blocks away and we often got pizza from here growing up. Now we come from out of town because there is simply no pizza place in our town that comes anywhere close to the quality, flavour and delightful eating experience of this places pizza and wings. I usually order from Fonthill location where the food is always delicious. however when I ordered on skip the dishes I didn't realize that I was ordering from the East main Street location in Welland. The result was not very good. upon opening the pizza box it looks delicious but once I took a bite I realize the cardboard box was fresher than the pizza. The wings were good but previously when I ordered unknowingly from this location as well, it was the opposite where my pizza was good but my wings were burnt. I let it go the first time because of covid-19 and the effects it has on small businesses and thought I'd let it go and just let them know the next time that I ordered what had happened hoping that they would insure my food was cooked to perfection. Boy I was wrong. I tried calling them several times to see if they would just remake my pizza and I would come and pick it up but they weren't answering however they were still open for another 2 hours. I have been coming here for 10 years, I don't know what this eve lady is saying about horrible service. They have been nothing but polite when I come in. They always ring the bell and have something nice to say when I tip. Some of the best pizza I have ever had. Even when there's a mistake, they are polite and apologize to me about it. They gave me a credit and free delivery. I feel bad for them for working in this super hot humid summer so I give them so much respect for doing there job and making customers like me happy every time I leave.
