First note, I would welcome management to contact me regarding this review. I have been here many times and have enjoyed the food, beverages and atmosphere. I came here today with friends to enjoy Happy Hour as that is what we do all around both West Kelowna and Kelowna together to celebrate our life and friendship. I convinced my girls to try Lakesider and unfortunately our visit today was less than stellar. My group arrived ahead of me at 2:45 and were not told about any happy hour menu or drinks or specials or anything of the likes that might have been in existence. Unfortunately, as it turns out, Lakesider does not offer any wines in their happy hour which, as a note to the owner or management, is not very smart considering that wineries even offer alternate drinks on their happy hour menus just in case someone doesn't enjoy wine and thus at lakesider they might offer a wine or two on their happy hour menus as some of us are not able to enjoy beer. We planned to order nachos to share then order a few pizzas and enjoy beverages and each other's company but that is not what happened. Our waitress/server was definitely an inexperienced one, not good with people, did not explain what and what wasn't on the happy hour menu, we had to actually ask for those menus after I mentioned to my party that there was an actual happy hour menu. She was not forthcoming nor helpful and definitely rubbed my party (of industry) the wrong way. (* Please place glasses gently on tables when delivering them to customers, do not drop them a quarter way down for them to spill all over, it seems aggressive and generally is not received well by paying customers). Nutshell version, we finished our plate of nachos and left but even that cost was $100 which shouldn't have happened at 3:30pm in the afternoon. We don't penny pinch during our get togethers but there's just certain etiquette and rules that go along with Okanagan happy hour and this just didn't coincide with our expectations. We left and went over to Mt. Boucherie where they know how to operate a proper Happy Hour. If you've taken the time to read this far, then I would definitely suggest you check out Lakesider for a beer flight and supper but in terms of a happy hour, an Okanagan institution, go elsewhere for appies, wine and other drinks like craft beers and specialty beverages to cater to ALL the members of your party. As we sat at Mt Boucherie I told all the members of my group that I hoped todays experience wouldn't deter them from checking out Lakesider at another time to enjoy the yummy pizza and to have a better experience overall. In essence, I should have given this experience one star but due to the fact that 2 of my friends enjoyed their beer and the nachos were good, three...
Read moreWe stopped at Lakeview Heights to grab some milk from Nesters Market on our way home from the airport.
Decided to drop in at Lakesider brewing first hoping to buy some non-alcoholic beer or cider. No such luck. The taproom manager was very nice, friendly and we thought, well that is a place we can explore for a bite another time. Walking out of the establishment almost colliding with a patron changed all that "fuzzy-good feeling". My husband walked across the parking lot to grab some milk as I was busy making sure a "not so sober" patron stumbled to his car parked right in front for all to see was not going to drive off. Long story short, I observed and watched as the man was still in his vehicle. I notified the taproom manager of my concern. Nothing came of it, as a matter of fact one of the staff members that was to look into it completely dismissed me and basically ignored I was even there. I got pretty annoyed and walked out. I knocked on the patron's passenger window and got his attention. We talked and I understood the situation and knew what I had to do. Short version. We drove this grieving man home to make sure he was safe. The moral of the story: Dear Establishment, You know you have a certain responsibility and obligation on how much you serve an already intoxicated patron. I strongly suggest you re-read and/or study the BC Liquor laws in its entirety asap. I gave you every opportunity to step in and act/help, you decided to look on as you could see the entire incident...
Read moreCame here a while back in the summer twice and it was fantastic. We couldn't get enough. I decided to take my girlfriend tonight since I have been raving about it but we were utterly disappointed. The drinks were amazing. The food was not. We thought the 'hummus' that comes with the flight of beer was just pureed garlic. The charcuterie was well below mediocre with 5 crackers and save on cheese and meat. We were hopeful for the pizzas since they have been so good in the past. We were sadly mistaken. My girlfriend ordered the salmon and béchamel pizza. I couldn't bring myself to even have a bite of it based off her facial expression. As for the brie and apple pizza, it felt as though it was missing some key components that were there the past few times I had it and would be able to finish the whole thing no problem. I was 2 slices in before I seriously regretted my decision. We are happy to give the benefit of the doubt with the possibly of new staff members or even food shortage to being in the off season. We will try again maybe next summer in hopes of having what I did the past two times. We hope that the time of the season wouldn't effect the food so much as it did. We hope to have a better experience next time. Thank God they can always rely on their...
