Gervais Restaurant & Tavern — Restaurant in West Nipissing

Three of us were passing through town and stopped here for a meal. One of us ordered pickerel which was over cooked and inedible with what appeared to be yellow beans from a can. Another ordered two appetizers: spinach dip and mushroom caps. The dip was so stiff the corn chips provided couldn’t “dip”. The mushroom caps were canned mushrooms breaded in the same breading used for the chicken balls and were inedible. Another ordered liver and onions which was over cooked and usable for shoe leather. The entire meal cost over $120 and out of sympathy for the waitress we tipped 15%. The worst restaurant experience of our lives. I would offer zero stars if that...

Our first time eating at this establishment. We ordered a Caesar salad and a combo platter that included an egg roll, sweet and sour chicken balls and fried rice. Food was okay, but the atmosphere is dismal. It's dark and was noisy with some "regulars" drinking at the bar cussing and shouting. Our server stayed behind the bar talking to the "regulars" for most of our visit. We were staying in Sturgeon Falls after a long drive from Niagara. This was our first dining experience and it will be our last. I couldn't in good conscience recommended...

There really is nothing great about this place other than it's supposedly "local" even though it's a country-style? It's regular food, not terrible but nothing special, better than Tim Hortons though if that's your only option. Service was TERRIBLE: very slow in every way and they just seem angry and don't care. We wanted to dine in but ended up just getting our food to go because it took forever to...
