As a coffee connoisseur I'm realizing that most of the reviews of shops focus singularly on pastries and sandwiches with marginally and vaguely on the coffee. In the long run this probably pushes an astute entrepreneur to concentrate on food rather than beans. Perhaps these people are looking for a patisserie?
In the current set of reviews for FC, those commenting on the coffee are favourable. I was looking all around Whistler for a light roast, hoping for an Ethiopian bean, and Forecast had both. The shop is beautiful, and it will be great to linger once the pandemic is over. I rode down there on the sea2sky in a light rain to retrieve a bag of bluebird and a couple of snacks for the ride home. Snacks included a chocolate chip cookie, which was perfect, and the only decent one I've found around whistler. The beans are good, but could be better. The "light" roast is darker than like but probably too light already for those trained on Starbucks, Blenz, or Tim Hortons. I didnt' get much aroma when I opened the bag, and I don't any crema or bloom when I brew them in the aeropress. Maybe the bags are sitting on longer than the owners would like during the interprovincial travel restrictions. Would return and try...
Read moreI give a 5 because they also serve alcohol which is a nice bonus. Good beer selection. The quality of the cocktail largely depends on who is making it.
Coffee is pretty good. The drip is not bad and the lattes are pretty good.
Food is also pretty good but I wish they had a few lighter breakfast options. Maybe a half size of the overnight oats or some cut fruit and yogurt and granola?
Cookies are ace.
French fries are too crispy and dry and I always regret ordering them but I still keep ordering them anyway. The truffle fries only has a dribble of truffle oil on the top, the bottom is just normal fries.
Nice staff, lots of fun stuff sold there too including coffee supplies, snacks, apparel, books,...
Read moreIt’s always frustrating when you consistently have to wait long for your coffee/tea or meal in the morning. They always seem understaffed. There are always inconsistencies. One day, there is a shot of sweetener in my London Fog the next day there isn’t. Sometimes they are missing ingredients to their dinner meals, which they ended up only telling you after you paid. Also, making a veggie breakfast sandwich is like pullling teeth. Sooooo slow. Some of their employees move like slugs. I am a local and there aren’t many other options in Function so I am forced to go there. There is lots of potential here. Just wish management could...
