Perhaps I had set unfairly high expectations for this place. Eat in Lunch on Friday Oct 25th/2024: The quiche and pastry were delicious. The coffee is flavorful and served hot, as it should be!!
Proprietor/Manager, for eat in experience Show a bit of pride in what and how you're serving. It looks "thrown together". Metal cutlery only for eat in, PLEASE!! (Wood cutlery is should be reserved for take out). For bottled drink orders the server should offer a drinking glass option, not be surprised when asked for one. Have a porcelain serving option for coffee orders. This is a Bakery, if I wanted a tim horton's experience, I would have gone to time horton's.
The staff needs and deserves better training. There is a expectation the staff in an establishment such as this, understands the variations of an expresso coffee order - it appears to be lacking here. Start by having the appropriate vessel to serve it (porcelain and paper options): This should be foundational knowledge.
Took home croissants, butter, Almond and Chocolate: Unfortunately they are Underwhelming in every way. NOTE: a couple of years ago I had croissants from the previous location of this bakery. They were one of the best I ever had!!
If providing an underwhelmingly mediocre experience is objective of the proprietor/manager,...
Read moreI was really looking forward to supporting this locally owned spot, but unfortunately my experience was disappointing. I arrived at 8:50 am hoping to grab a quick breakfast sandwich, only to be told there was no bacon available and that it would take 20 minutes to cook more. I opted for a breakfast bagel with ham instead.
Even though I was the only customer in the restaurant, it took much longer than expected for my order to be ready. The cashier repeatedly told me that it was almost done, but after waiting for 10 minutes, I had to ask for a refund. She asked if I could wait a bit longer, but I had already waited long enough for what should have been a simple order. As she processed the refund, the food finally came out, but at that point, I was too frustrated with how the situation had been handled and requested the refund again. There was no attempt to make up for the long wait or offer the food as a complimentary gesture to leave on a positive note.
I wanted to support this local business, but the lack of efficiency and customer service left a bad impression. I hope they can improve for the future, but I won’t be returning...

Belle Vie Cafe & Bakery has some of the best baking we've had.
Love that they moved in where Nice Bistro had made a taste of French in our Whitby so popular. (We miss Manon & Bernard)
So this is the 1st place I thought of when our 36th wedding anniversary came along, and my wife said, "Bring home a nice treat for our breakfast".
I stopped in at 7:30 to secure two of our favorites, the Cherry Danish, along with the rum soaked Almond Croissant, and I let them know of our special occasion.
I'm glad to have stopped in at opening and asked them to hold the delectable treats, which I would get on the way home later in the morning. (They often run out early)
I hadn't noticed the note on the box until home. "Here's to 36 more!" Also, there was a little extra treat in the box...
What a lovely gesture from such nice folks who made our very special day all the better!
Belle Vie has outstanding baking for sure. Those small quiches are everything.
I highly recommend Belle Vie Cafe & Bakery in...
