Navona Pizzeria — Restaurant in Whitby

Was taking a walk through the neighbourhood with hubby and baby. Decided to stop for a slice on Mother's Day 2018. Horrible service experience and mediocre pizza. Husband went in to grab a veggie slice and they told him they only had cheese personal pizzas. He asked if they would be making any and they said no. He asked if they had any other slices on the menu as advertised and the woman who I assume is the matriarch of the business snapped at him and said "I told you we have none!" He walked outside to me and relayed the info and He said he didn't get a welcoming feeling at all from the help staff and specifically the older woman at the counter. He said she was irritated and aggressive with his re her behaviour and her answers were short and dismissive- very different from how other patrons were being treated. I told him to shirk it off and grab us the personal Pizza and let's have a picnic on the bench outside. In addition, he told me later that She also refused to hand him back his money in his hand rather she dashed it on the counter -again very different from how other patrons were being handled. The staff watched us the entire time that we are outside and I went in to grab napkins and was not greeted with any kindness. All I can deduce from this experience is that is was definately discrimination since we were the only non Caucasian patrons at the establishment. I went to Navona Pizzeria for the first time Saturday night before I went I saw them on Goggle and call them up to get direction and the ower answer and she was so nice to me giving me direction how to get there that what made me chose to go there to eat and the rating when I got there the owners all was so nice we talked while I order my pizza and while waiting for my pizza and I got to know alot about who they were and how long they were in business and I had to wait for an hour for the bus the ask their driver who deliver their to take me home I want to thank them it hard to find people like in this day and time, and that how it use to be in the e 80s/90s eating great food and getting to know the people who is eating it and who is servicing to you the ower knew her coustom names and I love that about this business you can't find that no more I would tell everyone this is a great place to eat friendly owers and staff and great food it worth...

Tuesday night is my pizza night, every week I go to Dominoes for their 2 for 1 deal. Decided to switch it up and find some local mom and pop pizza. This was the highest scoring place in the area so I decided to try it out. About $10 more than what I would spend at Dominoes for two pizzas, but the quality ah ma gahd. Big chunks of thick cut bacon, fresh mushrooms, that pepperoni nom nom nom, I don't know if that is real cheese but you can actually taste it and not rubber, good tomato sauce that tastes like tomato and garlic that's it, classic. The only complaint I have is the lack of sausage, maybe if it where smaller bit, they tasted good but I couldn't determine if it was in house made. Its a small complaint, the pizza was great.
