Being new to the area, we were looking for a fun atmosphere to help celebrate my daughters 30th birthday. After reading some of the reviews for Tap and Tankard we thought this would be a fun place and were looking forward to a good time…...WE WERE WRONG!!
We were quite prepared for what comes along with the bar night life, the inevitable bar fight and loud/drunk but funny people, that is all to be expected. What we were not expecting…. being asked to leave because we yelled at a server!?!! Keep in mind there was a live band playing and the only way to communicate was by yelling at each other. Also keep in mind that we had been asking our server for a glass of water for our designated drive for over an hour. We had no problem getting any other drink that would require a tip, of which we made sure to tip well!! So when she was passing our table we once again tried to grab her attention, by yelling “can you please bring a glass of water”. At which point her response was “I do not take nicely to being yelled at”. She then went over to the bouncer, I am not sure what she said to him, but we were asked to leave. I would also like to point out that no one at our table was drunk. However, I can’t say the same about others. Unfortunately, we endured having a very drunk individual fall over on our table, spill an entire pint beer over two people and knock over our drinks. One bouncer witnessed this happen but did nothing, so we made a complaint to another bouncer who then laughed and also did nothing. Within 10 minutes of this incident, the same individual decided to pull his pants down to relieve himself in the middle of the bar; it was only then he was escorted out. Falling over drunk and spilling drinks on paying customers; you can stay. Yell over music to try to get a drink of water, out you go!!
When asked to speak to a manager about the situation, we were told there wasn’t one!! Okay, who runs a business without a manager on duty?? After giving push back and saying we were not leaving until we speak to a manager, magically one appeared. Unfortunately, this lead to more frustration. I understand there are strict rules that must be followed in order to run a business like this safely. BUT, when you obviously have sober, respectable customers trying to state their case, taking the side of your server over a paying customer, well where is the logic behind that type of thinking? Management informed us that they will only take the information from their staff and that we had to leave regardless of anything we had to say. To top it all off, we paid $7 cover times 6 people!!
Tap and Tankard you managed to take what should have been a great way to end a great day, and turned it into what could have ruined a great celebration. Needless to say we will not be back! Not that I feel their management will care!! I will ensure that I tell everybody about this experience so they will never be subjected to this type of treatment...
Read moreEarlier this evening I went to taps to celebrate my friend’s birthday it was a great night, till a male patron started getting uncomfortable close in an area that was not crowed, I politely asked him if he could take two steps back, he refused as “he fine” as he kept telling me, it got to a point a friend in his group stepped in to say he would keep him away. Moments later the man appears again and way too close so, we moved to the other side of the dance floor closer to the bar, moments later he appeared again so we stepped out side to collect ourself then went back to the front bar in front of the bathroom area to order drinks, my group was in the area mentioned there was another group a few feet away other then that plenty of space for anyone to order with respectful distance, the man appears again and stands right next to my group and at the bar attempted to sexual assault one of the members of my group then turns to look at me with a smile to say “what im fine” so I turned around to report him to security, the gentleman I spoke to acted right away telling other members of the team there was an issue, he got me to point him out and serval of them removed him while one stood in front of me to keep my friends and I safe. You have a wonderful security team, I am so grateful for them and their hard work, they are respectful, kind, and great at what they do, don’t let them forget it!!! I believe the man I spoke to about the issue had a Batman symbol earpiece in, thank you to him and all the other security guards that were able to...
Read moreHad the worst experience ever at tap tonight. I got there at around 8. Tried to order a drink but girls who arrived three people after me were served before I was, but I didn’t let that get to me because I know things can be busy. At 8:30 I was kicked out of my seat because they said they were removing all the tables. Moved no problem. Two minutes later a group of people sat in the table we were sitting at and were able to sit there for another 45 minutes. Fights broke out all over the dance floor. The bouncers decided to talk to the people in the fight in the hallway leading to the patio. When I tried to go out on the patio the bouncer slammed the door back at me while giving me a “death stare”. It’s not that they don’t do their job, they just need to calm down. I asked to speak to a manager and waited about 30 minutes for her, while she walked back and forth past me at least 5 times. When I finally just asked for the GM’s number I was rudely told by the bartender “Sarah” that she was unable to provide me with a business card, they were all out. I had to ask another bartender and lie and say I was interested in having my wedding reception there in order to get any kind of information about the GM. Sarah was extremely rude, actually laughed at the fact about how long I was waiting, and then completely lying to me about her Gms info is ridiculous. I left and went to hops house where I had an amazing time! If your in Whitby visit hops. Forget the tap unless you like fighting and the worst...
