This is my first time at this location since I just moved into the area, and my experience I had there makes me want to never go here again - at least not for takeout.
I'd like to say before I explain things, that I am not complaining about the wait time specifically. I came by on New Years day around dinner time and waited about 45 minutes. The wait time was very acceptable for the time and holiday. This is not what I am complaining about.
I ordered a ribs and fries meal with an extra side of fries, and a chicken on a kaiser meal, which was upgraded to a poutine. The rib meal with extra fries was okay. The big issue was the poutine.
I had the takeout cashier check it to make sure it was okay before I left, and she said yes. When I got home just 5 minutes later, the poutine's cheese was all melted in one area in the centre of the fries tray. I could not mix it up even when I re-melted it. Also, after giving up and putting my own cheese on it, I realized they had given us no poutine gravy, which is supposed to come with it. They did give us 4 containers of Chalet sauces though! (which was useless)
My meal ended up looking like exactly like the picture shows. Trying to fix this made all the other food get cold. I tried calling to complain, but they were apparently too busy to get someone to speak to. I just want my money back, but at this point, I'm so done. I just don't want to go there again. Total waste of money. If I am waiting for 45 minutes, I at least expect a menu item that cost $16+ to be made correctly. Cheese in one pile, no gravy, food now cold. Nearly $40 bill....

The food was pretty good, however the culturally disrespectful comments directed at me, as well as comments about my child from the waitress left me feeling very uncomfortable. This waitress quickly became VERY forward and kept making inappropriate comments that were very offensive. I tried to smile and take it in stride but I was getting angrier by the second. She is working to serve customers and what started off as friendly talk quickly became a very uncomfortable situation. This waitress did not know when to stop asking intrusive questions and kept making ridiculous comments and really crossed the line. She was also commenting on the way my daughter was dressed and how she looked. She does not know me at all, so to take it upon herself to get so comfortable throwing out presumptuous and ignorant comments about my culture, parenting, and how my child was dressed was over the top and very rude. She is lucky my family was with me and I kept my composure, no one should be subjected to that at a restaurant from a waitress. Do your job and know when to shut up, you're not at home, you're dealing with the public and don't think because someone doesn't come back at you that they are not angry. Read moreThere is one posting of horrible service and management. Our party echo part of the same experience. We all ordered and all the dark meat quaters on all 4 plates were pink in colour. The meat had a distinct 4 colour. It reminded me of the North Oshawa start after the new manager took over about 4 years now. At least it did have the funny smell of cooked blood. The waitress was a bit of jerk she initially did want to not assist. We were asking for the meat to be cooked more. At some point she agreed. Then when we got the legs back the cook made sure to the burn the top layer of the meat so it had a char taste on it. An example of poor culinary skills. Expose the meat to intense heat, thankfully though the meat bellow the char was finally cooked and some of the pinkness in the meat was less. What a waste. Swiss Chalet Whitby showed their true face. It should be a crime for a chain of this caliber to push through bad food like this. People cook less and less these days so I suppose these chains no longer need to adhere to cooking tasty food as consumers are none the wiser. Whitby and North Oshawa Swiss Chalet bite the dust.
