A&W Canada — Restaurant in Whitchurch-Stouffville

I’m disappointed to say this was the worst A&W experience I’ve had. Firstly we waited almost 20 minutes to order as the employees were only focussed on the drive through. They had one cash register open on a Saturday when the lineup was almost out the door.

We finally ordered our food and Soma was so rude. She kept cutting us off while we were ordering. Let me tell you what I want on the burger instead of asking “fries and rootbeer” after I say the type of burger I want. I don’t like ketchup and all the other toppings the burger comes with. I just want pickles, extra pickles. Every time I get extra pickles at any other A&W, I get 7-8 pickles or more. This A&W has to be the skimpiest location as I’m lucky to get 4 when asking for extra pickles.

Furthermore, the food took an additional 20 minutes. When we asked for barbecue sauce for the fries, Soma tried to charge us for them. Every other A&W gives you a pack of bbq sauce. I’m sure if we asked for 5 it would make sense to pay but we asked for 1 each.

Soma was incredibly rude and disrespectful, the lineup was out the door and they only kept her on cash without any backup. I understand handling a rush like that is probably stressful but there’s no reason to lash out...

Customer service is terrible. I asked for an explanation of what one burger was. The woman taking my order was at best nit friendly and made it seem like I was really putting her out for asking (how the hell am I supilpised to know what the difference is between a Buddy and an Uncle burger?). While they were prepping the order I went to bathroom. It was disgusting. Before entering, the stench of old stale urine brutalized my nose. After my second step in, I noticed my feet were sticking to the floor. Dried urine was caked in visible layers under the urinal. The sink had what looked like either mold and nasal particles around the back. The cleaning log indicated it had not been clean since Aug 26. Today is Aug 29; the offensive smell corroborated the log. After leaving the bathroom I informed the guy (one of two other people in the restaurant) of the state of the bathroom. When he exited it agreed. While waiting for my food fruit flies kept buzzing around my head. I cannot imagine how this place passed an inspection. The food was as good, consistent with the brand though the strawberry shake tasted more like a blended fruit smoothie which is clearly not waht I ordered or wanted. I will...

Ordered a Teen combo with fries and a root beer. Went to pay for the order, and the til went down. Checked my phone to go on the wifi, their network was down, so now they weren't able to clear orders off the tracker. Despite this, the staff soldiered on as best they could, despite two huge A**hole customers who wanted refunds or extra food, despite being told that it would probably be longer than expected.

I was there after an 8 hour work shift, and I had no problems happily waiting for my order which took about 10 minutes, but the two older gentlemen, one with his two sons, had to have their food in their faces before they got in the door. Again, despite being told it would talk longer.

I'd love to see those two try and memorize two in restaurant orders as well as the 6 car orders lined up outside. They probably never worked a day in customer service.

Food made my day, service was courteous as always. No music playing, hence the 4 star. But that's on the restaurant, not the workers.
