Last night in Winkler so off to another local restaurant to see what was being offered. I was craving BBQ and noticed DJ's had ribs so drove over to get an order for take out. I was greeted in a friendly matter who helped me make a decision, which was ribs, chicken and fries with a side of coleslaw and bun. Was told it would take about 15-20 mins. So I sat and watched. No one else was in the restaurant until about 10 mins later when a family came in and you could tell it was their first time. They sat at a table where there were menus (which tells me someone would come to the table). Nope, you go up and order your food. The person they had was not very friendly, did not even smile and I thought how unnerving that would be to get that kind of service on my first time there. I watched the kitchen staff and noticed someone was being trained. As they were packing for a take out order (not mine) I saw that he grabbed the bun with this hand, passed it to the person training him and she put in the box. So 2 hands touching a bun before someone eats it. The bowl to grab the fries was the same bowl they used for onion rings and other things, never once was it cleaned. After waiting about 25 mins, my order was good to go. I didn't eat the bun but really did like their chicken. It was crispy and had a nice flavour. The ribs were pretty good but the sauce was not my favorite. I can't quite describe it but it had a tangy taste, not a bold BBQ taste. The portions were...
Read moreWell... it all started that morning, when i woke up after a night of SERIOUS stuff that happened. Exactly what that stuff is is none of your business. It all started when THAT GUY came to my house in the morning and says to me "hey you lazy guy who isn't a parrot or a cat, wake up and come to DJ's with me for supper!" I said to him then "why are you waking me up now in the morning if you only want to go in the evening?" he says to me then "it is the evening, you've been sleeping all day!" DON DON DON... lightning in background So i go to DJ's with this FABULOUS man, and it's like... just 100% wow. so it's like the BEST interior decoration i have ever seen, and it's just BEAUTIFUL. so i go to the front, and i order an EXTRA LARGE PIZZA, with extra glitter and shite on it. i ask for an extra cup for a diet water, but here's the thing... they charge for refills! who does that these days, seriously. so when i finally get my house remortgage papers signed, i am able to pay for my pizza, and i sit down to wait. i wait for at least 2.7 minutes. THAT GUY sits across from me, and he also ordered a pizza but his didn't have glitter. he gets his pizza right away, and chows down. he hurts his teeth cuz guess what? his pizza had the glitter! and mine didn't! i literally couldnt even anymore! the service was so bad, they couldnt even get it right. not a good restaraunt. 1/10, would not eat again. the interior was PRIME though, dont forget about that....
Read moreThe food took a very long time and when it finally got there it was quite bland. I am practically a fried chicken connoisseur and this was the first time I've ever turned away the chicken. It was quite awful. I also got a milkshake and it was more like ice cream in a cup.
The lady we ordered from was nice but when we complained to the manager/owner (I don't know what she was) about the food she yelled at us and acted like it was our fault the food was bad. The fries were the most frozen tasting fries I have ever had and she said they make everything from scratch. The atmosphere was dirty and unwelcoming. And by the way it was $70 for two people and for that amount the portions and quality were severely lacking.
I felt bad for the people working there because they seemed almost embarrassed when the manager was yelling at us and it could have been because they thought we were insulting them by not liking the food. No. If the food is bad it's nothing against your skills as a chef, Maybe you are a bad chef but it's most likely because your ingredients or your recipes are bad. Sometimes change is good. Just because something worked fifty years ago doesn't mean it's good.
This was the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. I am Utterly disappointed and we are Never...
