The food we had was done very well. The atmosphere is quaint. Service was very friendly, not the most professional being often times quite casual. You are at a beach restaurant, so I figured it was acceptable for this place. The bruschetta with pesto and goat cheese was fantastic. My friends all loved the curry pasta dish. I was told the chef utilizes Lebanese spices with Italian food. That was interesting. My friend ordered the chicken which I thought was ok. The pasta that they served with it I skipped because the actual pasta dishes we ordered shined much brighter. A highlight was the soft bread with garlic butter that they constantly refilled.
I debated between a 4 and a 5 star, but ultimately, gave it a 5. What made me consider a 4 was because of the price point. When a restaurant is of a certain price, I have a higher standard. However, I spoke to some other people who pointed out to me that it just costs more because they have to bring in a lot of food from Winnipeg, so the costs are just much higher. We ate over $300 for 5 people, but it included alcohol for 3 of the party. So final words? I'm not sure what there is to eat at Winnipeg Beach as I haven't really tried the restaurants in that area... but I will say this restaurant is a very solid...
Read moreBanned for life!!!! Well, we will NOT be going back to Casa Bianca. No specific complaints about the food, the wait staff was friendly and attentive. But all of that changed at the end of our meal when we were suddenly informed that we were expected to pay the bill for all nine of us in one amount because the chef had chosen to serve us family style, and apparently at the bottom of the menu, it is noted that there will be one bill Including the 20% automatic gratuity. Since we were not given a menu, we were surprised by the one bill at the end of our meal. We were a group of people celebrating a friends birthday many of us meeting for the first time - a rather awkward situation to suddenly be expecting a complete stranger to pay the $900 bill and then collect from a bunch of other complete strangers. Having us pay individually for each of our meals instantly created an environment of hostility from the wait staff and especially from the owner/chef. The owner/chef yelling on the phone after we left at my friend, who had booked to celebrate her birthday, telling her that we were no longer welcome at the establishment. It’s OK because it’s the last restaurant we would return to and give...
Read moreThe cuisine at this establishment was decidedly average, falling short of expectations for an Italian restaurant. One of our guests ordered the halibut, which was unfortunately overcooked, resulting in a texture reminiscent of canned tuna. When this was politely brought to the server’s attention, the situation was exacerbated by Chef Alex’s unprofessional response. Rather than addressing the issue with grace, the chef emerged from the kitchen to argue that the dish was "perfectly cooked," dismissing the legitimate concerns of our guest in a condescending manner. His behavior was rude and uncalled for, leaving a negative impression.
Given the atmosphere and the chef's lack of professionalism, I would suggest considering alternatives like Olive Garden, where the experience is more predictable and booking months in advance is unnecessary. As someone who works in a high-end restaurant, I know the importance of treating guests with respect and properly addressing any concerns, which was clearly...
