If you want to grab a bite out of Winnipeg's history this is the place to go to + ITS SO DELICIOUS AND FRESH! It is so pleasant and endearing to know a place serving its community since 1930, just do the math - 93 years - 9 decades - almost 5 generations of people have been visiting this bakery. Mind blowing, heart warming, so so beautiful. Three owners later this place is still standing, still slinging the original recipe bread + new additions as and when things are trending and getting added in our baked world influenced by flavours and trends from across the globe. Their store is a perfect paradoxical example of time standing still and yet being in touch with the present and future. When I went in I think I talked I think with one of the current owners and they are a passionate bunch of people running things with younger people who seem enthused about being there to make and serve what they are offering. I tried their sweet as well as savory croissants, the original loaf and some scones at one outing and a few other times I tried one of their cake slices and dainties. Every time I have had their stuff it has always been fresh and tasty. The croissants are fluffy and buttery, the scones are flavorful and not dry(very few places manage that), the best was the loaf and oh boy that bread was tasty bread which I was so ever excited to have everytime I planned on makigmng something with it at home. If you have someone coming to Winnipeg, take them here, it's probably not as fancy, or extra instagrammable(yet) but their food is both. You are missing out on major delicious goodies, you should have a fomo if you are reading this.

In a place where people buy cakes from supermarket chains for their convenience, Cottage Bakery showed why custom made cakes are far better in quality, taste, and sentimental value. The staffs working in the bakery are so nice and they want to help you. First of all, I was late in ordering as you need to give them 2 days prior notice for special ordered cakes. But, they understood my situation and actually they agreed to make the cake on 1 day advance notice. That showed the human nature in the establishment. The cake, it was so beautifully made. It was simple and elegant. As I tend to judge a place (bakeries) from simple chocolate cakes, I was quite satisfied the quality they gave me in that cake. The instructions were followed clearly and after it was cut open, the layers were made beautifully. Now the taste, it was so good. As I said supermarket cakes may be half the price but their taste is all so horrible. This cake had the perfect balance of sweetness and chocolate flavor with the natural hint of natural bitterness which you get from better quality chocolate products. The Frosting was light and fluffy and not at all greasy. So, in short, the staffs are friendly, they give you good quality products and the store is really clean. I don't know what you want more from bakeries but if these are the things you look for, please.do visit them. They are amazing.

I've had baked goods from here on occasion, my wife likes their goods, but I am rarely with her when her rounds take her into this area, however today we were on Pembina so we popped in to see what they had, and to check out the day-old shelf. They do sandwiches, ice cream, I think I saw a soup menu and, of course, lots of baked goods. We grabbed the half-price cherry pie and raisin bread and then went looking at what else they had. Picked up a plain croissant to check out against the competition and some sourdough as well. The raisin bread toasts up really nicely, and the cherry pie was lovely. A bit smaller than commercial Safeway maybe, but for a retired couple it's a perfect size. Saving the croissant comparison till tomorrow. All in all, a really nice place, prices are a bit high, but for fresh baked goods are pretty reasonable. I'll definitely make time to pop in whenever I'm in the neighbourhood.

One of the best bakeries in town, maybe in the top three! Their desserts are some of the bests I’ve ever had. I’ve tried several items—schmoo, lemon meringue tart, toblerone cake, almond and pecan tart, keylime and chantilly cream, chocolate dome with mousse inside, mango cheesecake and chocolate and banana croissant. My favourites are the toblerone cake, keylime cake, schmoo and lemon meringue tart. The cheesecake I had was just okay and I prefer a creamier, sturdier cheesecake and I remember the cheesecake having cheesecake-mousse consistency (I personally dont like mousse). The croissant fell flat, not buttery and crispy that I hoped for. Overall, I love this place and I will be placing a big order of my favourites for my wedding next year!!!

Dropped by here for the first time to try their breakfast and some baked goods. Out of many bakeries I've been to in the city, this one is the best. We tried the pistachio crossiant which had great flakey layers 👌 (most bakeries don't seem to do them well in this city). I then ordered the chocolate mousse, key lime tart, and tiramisu and none were too rich/overpowering, they all had their flavors perfectly balanced, and the tart shells were cooked well too. The breakfast foods were okay (eggs bene & egg sandwich) but the baked goods definitely outshine them. I am so happy to have stopped in and tried the baked goods. Apparently the place has been open around 90 years as well. I will be recommending this place's baking to my out of town visitors!

Nice little bakery coffee shop. Like the look of the red velvet and pistachio croissants. What drew me today was the lemon chaussant. I tried to get the pistachio croissant later, but it was a step too late. All sold out. Their Americano comes with a really good head of crema and tasted good too. Staff were friendly and helpful to cleanup a table for us. Dining area is simple no frills, but comfortable enough. Plenty of free parking spots in their free parking lot when we arrived.
