So my family and I love donairs/gyros and decided to give this place a try as it's a bit cheaper than our usual (amazing) place (that we shall not stray from again). Based on the awesome ratings we expected a wonderful food experience, however out of the four of us that shared a sampling of a few items none of us were wowed. The donair meat was kinda dry and didn't have the expected seasoning. The donair and kafta's balance of vegetables and meat was not done well. I don't even recall a taste to the pita, it could have not even been there for all I noticed of the taste. The garlic sweet donair sauce had great garlic flavour, but was intensely sweet, to the point of being unpalatable. The kafta was very dry, hard pieces of meat lacking the flavours that 'google' said goes into them, also didn't see or taste any hummus... unsure if dry, hard meat pieces is how it is to be served as we had never had that one before, but it was not something we would get again. The donair pizza was just okay, it was kind of a bland pizza, mostly just tasted of the cheese. None of the flavours of the tomato or onion popped, and with the donair meat not having the expected seasoning it didn't live up to its signature name for the taste. The falafel balls were dry and had a lackluster flavour. The tzatziki was a mystery, there was a small serving cup that came with the pizza that was lovely and thick, but the extra 8 oz tzatziki for 3.99 was watered down SO much that it was like a beverage, resulting in most of it just running out of the donair and kafta... Nothing (other than the insanely sweet garlic sauce and watered down tzatziki) was bad, it was all "okay", just not great, thus my rating of 3/5. Plus point for them, the service was very speedy, and was ready when they said...
Read moreOrdered dinner from here tonight (via Uber) and we were very disappointed in the service and the food. We ordered a donair calzone, donair sandwich, poutine, and a pineapple pizza. 80 minutes later, we received the first 3 items but instead of the pineapple pizza, we received a donair pizza. I understand that it may have been a mixup on the Uber driver's part (we received a refund from them), but I called the restaurant anyhow. Our kids were hungry and now one of them didn't have dinner because we were sent/delivered the wrong pizza. When I explained the issue, the owner (I'm assuming) said, "well.. the donair pizza is more expensive anyways". I don't care how much the pizza costs... our 7 year old asked for a pineapple pizza, not a donair pizza. The owner said he didn't know how to fix the issue and said there was nothing he could do. We have ordered from here before, and the other 3 items were also not nearly as good as they've been in the past. We definitely won't...
Read moreSteer clear from this establishment. Ordered the Chicken Shawarma Platter with some tweaks in the dish, as I wanted to avoid sides that I generally do not like. The order came with ALL the sides I said I do not want in my platter. I have had many Shawarmas around the world, and largely diced cubes of unseasoned chicken breast is NOT Shawarma. Don't be fooled to think that this is Middle Eastern food. The garlic potatoes tasted like curry potatoes, which I love, but this is not an Indian Cuisine? The garlic sauce was extremely overpowering and salty. I could taste the Sodium invading my body. The hummus was watered down, it couldn't hold itself on the pita bread. Liquid hummus is a thing now? The rice was clumped, and you can tell it was taken directly from the rice cooker with no effort to fluff it. For $16, not only was I deprived from the value, but rather felt ripped off as well. The presentation of the platter is also...
