After reading reviews I decided to make the trip to try it out. When I got to the restaurant I opened the door and was hit with the smell off fish, and not the good smell. Turns out the restaurant doubles as a fish type restaurant "SURPRISE"! (imagine the cross contamination in the kitchen). Against my better judgement we continued on with our mission. I ordered the cheat day sandwich. My daughter ordered the chicken pieces and curly fries. (Only 2 other people in the restaurant at the time). Waited 20 min for the food. My sandwich was warm my fries room temp. My daughter's order of chicken pieces were lower then room temp "cold". Curly fries hot. The chicken pieces were all dark meat, I thought it was dark meat from a turkey. Remember they were also cold. My sandwich was good but gave me a sore stomach halfway through, may be from the fish taste in the sandwich. (Cross contamination) like it was fried in the same grease as the fish meals. The chicken pieces may have been good if they were hot. My sandwich is a 4 out of 10. Ingredients were plopped on one side of the sandwich and taste like fish also the chicken looked like dark meat too. I recommend you try the place for your self and hope you end up with hot food. There was no reason we should have got cold food. The other 2 people that were waiting in the restaurant said they were missing there tacos they ordered and they were waiting for 35 min at that point. Waiter said they lost their order. There was only our 3 orders in the restaurant, how can you lose an ordered item. I will not go back there. Health inspector might want to do a surprise check on this place. Fish allergies are sometimes severe.
(I don't normally respond to a reply from an owner but since he replied with his policies and food handling procedures, also his use of only white meat. I've attached pictures of the chicken pieces we cut open to try and see why they smelled like fish. Also needed to see if any were white meat. Looks like brown meat to me. Maybe just old chicken. It did smell like fish) His response to the review was like I was making it up. I wish the photo had scratch and sniff. Every restaurant has the chance to present their best on every order. It is CRSPY BNCH that dropped the ball not my review. Learn from it and try to do better. I have no vested interest to lie about...
Read moreFried chicken week review: Friday evening, ordered 1 of each of the fried chicken sandwiches in the afternoon. Order was about a half hour late but I could understand why, the place was slammed. Lots of people waiting outside, we were eventually told they would call us when our order was ready, which they did and everything was fine.
The first sandwich we attempted was called the Cheat Day Sandwich. The name was perfectly suited. This thing was massive. The pieces of chicken were thick, juicy, and had a crunchy breading that held together nicely. The grilled cheese sandwich buns would likely have been delicious on their own, but they were a work of art in this format. The combination of the heavily buttered grilled cheese buns and the fried chicken made for a very greasy meal, but we didn't mind. The pickles really helped cut through the fat and were basically essential for this sandwich. The sweet slaw was great but the hot sauce was completely lost in the mix. Honestly, this was one of the best and surely the most memorable chicken sandwich I've had.
The second sandwich was called the Juicy Side Chic'N. It was equally massive, if not more so, compared to the Cheat Day. This one felt a little batter heavy but the baguette bun was easier to manage than the grilled cheese. The egg salad spread was an interesting addition, and the cucumber shone through nicely. Definitely a winner in its own right, but a second place finish when compared to...
Read moreI am no chicken when I want to try a fried bird. I love to try frird chicken whenever and wherever I can. And I had their fried chicken once before but in the passing, and I didn't have much time to decide and got what i could and it was tasty as cluck.
Run by young enterprising people and feel like they love what they are doing. It can get a bit confusing to order here as everything is freaking tasty and awesome.
As a winner of the Fried Chicken Week 2021-22 I wanted to try theirs and their sister restaurant SEA LEVEL 1000(run from the same place.) This was a must try before the fried chicken week goes by.
Their take is the Jamaican inspired sandwich. Begniets for bun, jerk marinated and seasoned double fried chicken(oh sooooo crispy) the chicken(mix of breast and thigh) was beaten flat and marinated so so well it was juicy and crispy. Creamy coleslaw and their jamican spice inspired mayo was really really amazing to taste. Their take and spin is really beautiful.
If you are craving fried chicken eating here should be...
