I had high hopes walking into Curry King after hearing it was a spot for authentic Bangladeshi food, but my experience was nothing short of disappointing. The biggest letdown was the cooking itself. The chefs seemed to miss the mark entirely — the curries were flat, overly oily, and lacked the layered flavors that make South Asian cuisine so appealing. The beef dish was especially frustrating: tough, chewy, and clearly rushed rather than slow-cooked with care. For a restaurant that presents itself around traditional flavors, it was disheartening to see the kitchen turn out food that felt careless and uninspired. Beyond the food, the overall environment raised concerns. The restaurant did not feel clean or well-kept — tables were sticky, the space looked neglected, and the lack of attention to hygiene made the experience even less appetizing. Combined with slow and disinterested service, it left me questioning the overall standards of the establishment. Some may point to the low prices as a draw, but cheap food is only worthwhile when it’s good and served in a hygienic setting. Curry King unfortunately fails on both counts. Winnipeg has many better South Asian restaurants where the chefs clearly care about their craft and the dining...
Read moreThe food is ok but I had a bitter experience with one of there employees and today from the owner himself. I ordered chicken fry and t It was just made but as the portion of the chicken was big it wasn’t fully cooked throughout. One of the pieces had raw blood coming out and another one had raw smell and uncooked tendon showing. I went to owner and asked very politely that, I think the chicken wasn’t fully cooked and has a raw smell I even showed him the blood spots. He just burst into anger and said that how can it not be cooked. I said can you just check? He just took the plate from my hand and said we don't have anymore chickens today and threw it in the bin. This is not a shop owner in canada should react to his customer. When the customer saying then check on it. One more thing to add that he is from my county. So, it felt really harsh when he did that knowing that I am from there too. Never...
Read moreI had a great experience at this restaurant with my wife and friends. I don't understand what some of the other reviews are about, we had the freshest and some of the most delicious Bengali food ever in Winnipeg in my 5 years here. We ordered the menu that was on special, Kachki and Alu Bhorta with Rice and Daal for $6 and also had Morog Polau for $9 and a couple cups of tea, $1 each. I had a very very pleasant experience there and I'm likely to come again, reasonable price and great tasting food. I wish I took photos but I got busy devouring the dishes and some more. Taste was good, service was great too. One of the guys came over twice and asked us whether we needed anything else. They took away our empty plates and kept our table clean, before, during and after the meal. We went at opening time, right around noon 12pm and had our meal around 1. All in all, highly recommend for...
