What an amazing evening! We celebrated our anniversary at Gather this evening, and all I can say is "WOW!!!" The food was incredible, every dish is carefully crafted to bring out the best of every ingredient! We started with drinks: The Lawnmower and the Lavender Lemonade. These were both amazingly fresh and full of flavour! The tequila in The Lawnmower shone with the elderflower, lime, cucumber, and basil making the drink light and summery. The Lavender Lemonade is a beautiful shade of purple and is such a perfect balance of tart and sweet. For appetizers we tried the Saffron Gnocci which was bright and summery and was perfect for sharing! We also shared the Chorizo Spiced Vegan Tacos that come with the Butler Soy Curls, which we had never tried before. Being pescatarian, this was a great taco protein and we will definitely be back to have these tacos again! There was so much filling and everything was delicious and complimented all of the flavours! Our entrees were the Spanish Prawn Pasta which was served on a generous portion of Nature's Farm linguine and was so delicious! I couldn't finish my portion so that I could make sure to have room for dessert š My husband ordered the Coconut Korma Curry that was plated beautifully and he said was one of the best curries he's ever had! Finally, for dessert we ordered the Ginger Lemongrass Creme Brulee and the Brioche Bread Pudding. This was one of the best creme brulees I've EVER had! The Bread Pudding was decadent and delicious! To top off our night was our server, Jenny T. She was incredibly attentive while giving us space to enjoy our food. Her professionalism and friendliness was such a wonderful addition to an incredible evening. My only disappointment (and reason for 4 stars on Atmosphere) is that it feels like the tables are just a BIT too close together, although I was grateful that the table closest to us wasn't seated until we had already ordered our desserts. All in all, this was a tremendously enjoyable evening and we will...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOver staffed, 7 servers and a manager waiting for food all at once with only 2 staff working in the kitchen. Wait time for food with maybe 12 tables seated in the whole restaurant at the time, terrible. I'm scared to think what things would've been like if it were actually busy. Appetizers were fine for what they were, main courses all room temperature at best. My girlfriend ordered her steak medium rare, recived it stone cold and bloody. Portion sizes exceedingly lackluster and bland for their prices. My favorite part was when the bartender spelled out M-O-T-T-S, when he was explaining to me he had no control over the clamato juice he was using. I understand the desire to put your own creative spin on a classic, but please be prepared for negative feedback if there's zero execution, taste your drinks before you send them out. A caesar is supposed to be on the red side of the colour spectrum, not pink and filled to the brim with ice. This bartender should head down to Club Regent Casino bar and take some much needed notes. Only saving grace was our server, he was exceedingly polite and knowledgeable all though, he lingered awkwardly at our table from time to time. Overall, this eatery is lacking leadership, experience and quality control. If their standards don't improve, the novelty of grabbing a bite to eat at a beautiful restaurant (becasue the decor and layout is infact lovely) after experiencing such an amazing venue like the Leaf itself, will ultimately have the droves of patrons walking straight past this restaurant and looking to satisfy their cravings for over priced pretentious food and drinks elsewhere. So much potential here, yet completely missing their mark. I'm sorry for this review,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve never written a review before, but I feel compelled to share my experience. The food was decent ā nothing extraordinary, but fair for the price point. The waitress who served our table was polite and attentive, which I appreciated.
However, what made the dining experience confusing and uncomfortable was the restaurantās seating arrangement. It raised questions that I believe are worth pointing out. It seemed that guests who spoke English or appeared white were consistently seated by the windows where natural light came in, while people of other ethnic backgrounds, including us, were directed to sit in the middle of the restaurant ā even though there were clearly empty tables by the windows when we arrived.
In most restaurants, the host or hostess would ask if youād prefer a window seat or a table in the center. But in this case, no such question was asked. During our meal, I noticed that the window tables were gradually filled by English-speaking white diners, creating a strange and uncomfortable scene ā especially on an Easter Monday evening ā where people of different races appeared to be segregated: white diners by the windows, and others, including those with Asian and Middle Eastern appearances, in the middle area.
I donāt want to assume this is intentional discrimination, but it felt deeply unsettling. In a multicultural country, this kind of visible divide should be rare ā and certainly not normalized. People of all backgrounds enjoy sunlight, and if window seats are available, everyone should at least be asked if theyād like one.
Iām not sure whether this was the personal decision of the hostess or a reflection of the restaurantās general practice, but it left a...
