Johnny's Maples Pizza & Restaurant — Restaurant in Winnipeg

I sincerely hope that the owner reads this review and understands it is coming from a desire to see improvement. I love to support small, locally owned businesses and will choose them 9/10 times over a chain restaurant. However, the quality at Johnny's is barely above a convenience store.

This is the second time that I've ordered from Johnny's in the past year.

We ordered the Spicy Spiral Fries. The fries were meant to be coated in a "zesty batter" and come with a Mayo Chipotle sauce. They were straight up McCain curly fries with a side of marinara. Did I mention it was basically a single-sized portion for $13!? We weighed it, and it was just over 100g of French Fries.

The Pizza we had was severely undercooked (the dough was barely done). Additionally, I found a hair baked into the crust. Gross!

The flavour of the pizza was only okay. It is the quality of pizza I would expect from a restaurant that didn't specialize in Pizza.... But isn't Johnny's supposed to BE a pizza place? I can literally make better pizza in my backyard pizza oven, and even a chain like Red Swan is pumping out much better tasting pizza (for slightly cheaper, I might add).

Long story short, this place needs to have a complete overhaul of some very key menu items to remain competitive.

Its worth noting that the item I ordered a year ago was their world famous "chicken souvlaki" skewers. Massively overpriced for some very dry unflavored chicken, and super greasy lemon potatoes (not even the top 10 lemon potatoes in the city).

I really hope the owners can clean this place up again. The trend in reviews seems to indicate that I'm not the only one unimpressed with the...

I feel really conflicted writing this, ive been here a few times and the food is always been very good. Today I came in for lunch with my 2 nephews; the server that waited on us was phenomenal as was the food but we were made to feel unwelcome by other staff and I don't think I will be returning any time soon.

Apon arrival we were told to sit where we wanted. When our server came I told her we needed a little time with the menus. After sitting for maybe 10 minutes a lady who wasn't our server came over and somewhat rudely asked if we were ready to order. I said we still needed more time and she walked away. Eventually our server came back and took our food order, no problem. A minute or two after ordering the other woman came over again wanting us to order saying she'd get our waitress. I told her we'd ordered and she walked away without a word. Shortly after that a man from the bar area walked directly to our table, looked at us, then turned around and walked back to where he'd come from. I considered leaving at that point but the kids were hungry and we'd already ordered.

Throughout our visit every-time that lady was in eyeshot id see her staring at our table as if we'd done something wrong. Is this not a kid friendly establishment? Either way it was a very uncomfortable experience that I'd rather not repeat. Really unfortunate because the food is quite good.

We have ordered from Johnny’s many years ago and was happy with the service and the food. However, today we ordered 2 meals and a side salad. First meal we asked for no chilli on the burger and we got chilli on the burger. Second meal they forgot to pack the club sandwich in the bag, the fries were cold, soggy and grease soaked that they were thrown in the garbage. The soup had a sour taste and the kind of soup it was is still unknown. The salad was half decent aside from the dressing being warm. When we called about the missing club sandwich, we were told that there were no drivers available and we’d have to wait, go get the sandwich ourselves or get it at another time. She was pleasant on the phone but we have decided that we will not order from Johnny’s again. Disappointed in how careless they are with their customers and quality of food. We ordered through skip the dishes and they are going to credit our account the full cost of our order. Something Johnny’s restaurant should have offered to do. Or even part...
