Mango Tree Bar & Restaurant — Restaurant in George Town

The restaurant is located right as you enter the round about so you can easily miss the parking lot entrance. It's small inside and not really suited for large parties if you wish to dine in. The bathroom is located outside in the next part of the building. It took 20mins for our food to come out. We ordered curry chicken and oxtail. They didn't have plantain, so they just give you anything to substitute. Two of us received boiled yam, and the other person in our party received a boiled banana. Which was a waste because we didn't want it nor eat it. The curry chicken was ok but needed more salt. The oxtail lacked favor all the around. I tasted a small piece and sent the meal back. The waitress was reluctant to take the meal back, then she came back and said the owner stated she couldn't accept it back because I tasted the oxtail. Since when in restaurant hospitality you can't send a meal back? She then proceeded to say the owner said she could add a little curry chicken to it but couldn't take it back. I said no thanks, I get something from someone where else. The owner eventually can out and spoke with me to try and make things right and keep the sale. She replaced the meal with curry goat. The meal came out with a reduced amount of rice and small pieces of goat meat, lol, and a punch coleslaw. The goat is spicy but didn't taste bad. My son asked for a lemonade to go, and the waitress brought out a fruit punch instead. She appeared reluctant to return that to the kitchen as well. She never came back with the check, so we just walked to the takeout counter and paid. We went here at the suggestion of a local when we asked about grabbing a burger before our flight off island. Turned out we were there nearly an hour before they opened. We made a quick errand, and had only 10 mins til posted opening time so we waited in the parking lot. An employee stopped by our car and invited us in early - very nice! The inside area is separate from the outside bar/ stage area. The menu lists about 8 items available per day. It seemed the back of the menu hosted other items for any day. Sadly, the local who pointed us to this restaurant misled us as there are no Burgers on the menu at all... maybe it was due to being in early but we also could not order from the everyday menu page. We were served a nice beef broth soup and a huge plate of good food. Our roasted chicken plate came with 3 large chicken pieces, a huge rice and beans portion, a small side garden salad, and a banana. The bathrooms were out back and they were phenomenally clean. Where to start? The only two items I really enjoy are their escovich chicken with fries and grilled fish with vegetables and p80. The service is a bit on the poor side of the restaurant if I am being honest. I love the outside views and bar areas. Great place on a Thursday or Friday to chill and unwind. They usually have karaoke on Thursday nights. I am not sure what's going on with their dj, though? The music was awful on Friday night when I visited, and the doctor was not playing there on Friday, and it's one of your busiest nights..
