Quanxingju Restaurant — Restaurant in Beijing

I'm staying at a hotel just down the street from this place so I decided to check it out based on everyone's rave reviews. Well I hate to be the bearer of bad news but it was at best a pass and I'm being nice. Everyone thinks it's Westernized Chinese. First of all, Chinese food varies vastly in every province and the Chinese food you get in the West isn't quite the same obviously, and it's usually Cantonese food that you're eating. Even as a Westerner of Chinese decent, this place was bad. Ordered the beef with onions and the potato shreds. Beef was OK but cold. The potatoes were at first tasteless and was wishing for a salt shaker. But they were crispy. But as I worked my way down the little mountain so-to-speak , I noticed sugar! It’s a hole in the wall that was spruced up after my company stopped serving PEK from ORD. I ate there often and it’s across the street from the Pearl Market. The prices have kept increasing because many Westerners eat there. It’s a home away from home for any airline crews that stay in the area. The friend potatoes are amazing. The people very nice. All local people in the surroundings, all tourists inside... this doesn't begin well. We've had lunch here and our bad feelings have been confirmed. This is a TOURIST TRAP. Just that.
