Maxim's — Restaurant in Hong Kong

We visited Maxim's (Diamond Hill branch) 3 times during our 2 weeks stay in HK. We had breakfast, lunch & and dinner respectively. In terms of food quality, we prefer Café de Coral, but I think it's better than Fairwood. However, the 2 biggest issues are that their food quality are not consistent & the lack of flexibility for customers to tailor make changes on the menus. Very often, you would find something that was cooked perfectly but would also find something that tasted disgusting on the same plate (i.e., on the "charcoal mixed meat hot plate," the chicken thigh & the steak were juicy & tender, but the sausage, broccoli, & the french onion soup were absoultely crap. Another issue was the inflexibility to allow customers to make small changes from the menu, i.e., they refused my request to add another egg to the breakfast or on another occasion when they refused to change the rice dishes into rice noodles, even when I offered to pay the difference. Café de Coral & Fairwood were much more flexible in terms of satisfying customers' needs. Overall, we were disappointed as we remember they used to be ways better. Having said that, my wife really enjoyed their "boiled fish with pickled cabbage & chilli" dish... Not recommended, my advice is to go to Café de...
