I reached out to management about a poor encounter with Fook Lam Moon’s staff but sadly they haven’t bothered to reply, it just shows how much they really care about their customers.
My family are regulars at the Kowloon Bay Fook Lam Moon restaurant as my parents work locally and usually park their car at Kingston International Centre.
For context, my mother has a long term illness and struggles with incontinence, so it’s been very helpful to borrow their restrooms before driving home. She has always done so and has never caused any mess or issues.
A few days ago she returned and told us that their staff accused her of stealing toilet paper. Of all things, toilet paper! This was absolutely ludicrous. We were waiting for her in the car when it happened, so when she told us, I went up to speak to the staff to understand what had happened.
Manager Tsang then told me to never return to use the restrooms, because “one of her staff saw with her own eyes” that my mother had “stolen toilet paper”. We are a good family with manners and we are not short of funds - why on earth would she do so?
When my father arrived, another member of your staff then clarified that she in fact did not see it with her own eyes that my mother had stolen anything, but that my mother was in the bathroom stall for a long time and that she heard the toilet flush a few times - so she lied! My mother does take a while in the bathroom because of her illness, however, on absolutely no grounds, could you ever accuse her of stealing anything (I checked her pockets and bag myself even if it was a ridiculous accusation). She is sick, but she is not a criminal.
The staff then apologised, but I was very surprised at how Manager Tsang decided to accuse and shoo my mother off based on a web of lies. She was also incredibly rude and dismissive. Even when she was in the wrong, she apologised reluctantly. She accused a patient with long term illness of something that she did not do. This is not what I would have expected from a decent human being, let alone a Michelin-starred restaurant that claims to have high standards.
I am very disappointed with how their staff behaved in this instance and won’t...
Read moreBeen to the Fook Lam Moon in Wanchai on a regular basis growing up; first time visiting the one in Kowloon and must admit am absolutely disappointed. We had to search through the reservations list at the front desk on our own for 10 minutes because no staff was at the front; wait staff was busy with the tables which is understandable as it is their role, but the blazer staff whos suppose to be more monitoring/managing the floor was cleaning the tables and told us to ‘wait’ multiple times. The restaurant was at less than 50% capacity and they allocated all staff to cleaning tables and bringing food out, while my party as well as two other parties were at the front just waiting to be seated. Food was mediocre dimsum, nothing special. For a restaurant with a supposedly iconic reputation to uphold in Hong Kong, this experience was upsetting. Will stick to the Wanchai FLM from now on. Waste of my time trying...
Read moreExpectations were heightened by the recommendations I received and I think it would have been better going in blind. Went in for dim sum breakfast on Xmas day at 11am and there was no one so I'm happy there was no crowd, which started streaming in at 12pm.
Dim sum ranged from the very good to the mediocre. The standouts were the radish cake and spring rolls. Bbq pork buns were not superlative. We had choysum fried with beef and that was excellent, so we're gonna give the place another try for lunch or dinner!
They are running a promotion for 18yo fish maw for HKD88,888 now which I'm not ok to pay for but if anyone tries...
