It's just another theme restaurant like Hard Rock Cafe but instead it takes on the traditional old style store look and feel. BTW, I just found out that have branc restaurants too.
If you look closely, or maybe you don't even need to pay too much attention to notice that most of the decors are not from the tea house from way back then. On the other hand the food is not exceptionally superb but some does deserve mentioning. First they have some specialty soups. My wife and I really wanted to try both flavors but unfortunately the crocodile (alligator) soup was sold out so we had the chicken with cordyceps flower (蟲草花) soup. One thing I can say, it's definitely good soup. I would prefer adding a touch of sea salt to make it taste much better in my opinion. Other dim sum that we ordered are decent with some good and some so so. The fish balls were good and the beef balls are a bit mooshy. The shrimp shiumai with quail egg is a bit disappointed. For some reason the quail egg was a bit chewy. The chicken feet wrap is way better than the duck feet wrap. Instead of the typical steam rice rolls we ordered the steam rice rolls with beef brisket. While the steam rice rolls are good and silky, the beef brisket was too lean and too dried though. While the tea house restaurant is ok, I don't think it really worth the hype if you have to go out of the way...
Read moreEntering into the tea house will lead you to think your old relatives or friends are waiting for you. Quite impressed by their old school decoration. Kerosene stove, bamboo pillow, manual typewriter, dialogue telephone, and etc would relighten your memory of time in childhood. Thanks to the designer.
The Tea house is clean and tidy. The dinning environment is comfortable despite a little bit packed. All dim sums are listed in a one page paper. If you are in difficulty to choose, you can follow the chef recommendation. Dim sums are generally not pricy at all.
Steamed rice seems a must order from tables around you. Beef ball, short ribs, deep fried bean curd with shrimp and turnil padding are popular dim sum. But I like red date pudding in ginger sauce, not sweet but full of date and ginger fragrance. l
A highly recommended dim sum house...
Read moreA classic HK food place experience but clean. The queuing system is orderly but you have to watch out or else they might miss your turn. The dimsum tasted fresh and delicious (on the salty side). Quality is above average restaurants. Portion size of each dimsum is reasonably large. There was not any dim sum we ordered that we did not like except the beef intestine which was slightly stiffer than expected. Chilli oil is also a must try. We also liked how they designed the ordering menu to be reused, instead of using a separate piece of paper for...
