Colosal Restaurante — Restaurant in Medellín

If I could give negative stars I would!! I am infuriated beyond belief and disgusted with how this place tried to deceive us, and how they insulted my intelligence.

My fiancé and I made reservations with this restaurant for our wedding dinner. The first person I spoke with seemed very nice, but unknowledgeable, couldn’t tell me anything. Every time I contacted them thereafter it was always someone different. From there it was just downhill. I was told they do not do table decor (which is fine) but referred me to someone they use. This lady attempted to charge me 500$ USD for table decor for 11 ppl (not even extravagant, but simple)!!! And that was the “quote” without any itemized list of what was included. Ridiculous!

I asked the restaurant if we could just to the decor ourselves, they said we only get 10 min before the reservation time to set up 😒.

And the restaurant did the same thing! I never so much as received a menu (dinner/desserts/drinks), quote, or PRICES! I had to harass them to get that. And the price of the bottle for us to do a toast was absurd-175$usd/bottle. If I pay that per bottle, it better be something not found in a damn corner store, which it was.

I’ve lived here for the past 2 years, and I know my way around. I know the language/currency, and right from wrong. And I am no stranger to people/businesses attempting to pull a as fast one because I’m a woman, person of color, and now a foreigner. There is a difference in currency, but I would not pay some of those prices unless I was in a high end restaurant in NY, Miami, or Atlanta. Not here in Colombia. Sorry not sorry.

My advice…. If you are foreign, DO NOT GO HERE!!!! Unless you have someone with you that is a local and will speak up when something isn’t right. this place takes advantage of foreigners who are not familiar with costs/currency/etc. It is a beautiful place, with beautiful views, so if you do decide to go, please please please be cautious. They WILL try to take advantage, omit information and you’ll end up with a ridiculous bill (hell, they may even charge you for using their silverware, idk). Due your due diligence and research and Ask questions, because they will not hesitate to slap you with a ridiculous bill!

My florist actually told me about their hidden reputation. She said she had several clients with the same experience, all having being foreign in common.

Needless to say, I personally pulled the plug a few days prior. The whole experience left a horrible taste in my mouth. And I knew if we had actually gone through with the reservation, and things went south….. I would’ve shown my whole a** to them! A...

My recent visit to this restaurant was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the service was outstanding. The waitstaff were incredibly attentive, anticipating our needs before we even had to ask.
