We’ve been staying across the street from El Puerto and were surprised that, for being such a cool looking spot, it wasn’t as busy as we’d expect.
We ended up stopping over and we’re glad we did! We’ll be stopping back again before our trip is over.
We went a little earlier on a Saturday, so we almost had the place to ourselves. The hostess and waiter greeted us warmly and helped guide us through the menu and even offered to go off menu if we wanted. 🙌🏼
We ended up ordering a steak, fish of the day, and appetizer and a couple Mojitos.
The steak was cooked nicely, came with a simple house salad and potatoes. It was all good but the potatoes were excellent. Simple but executed perfectly. I’d order these as a side with anything, and maybe as an appetizer too. Maybe as a meal. 🤤
The fish of the day came while with some barbecue-ish sauce, a papaya salad and some fried rice. Again, executed well all around.
The appetizer were similar to fried falafel but with corn and extra seasoning. Maybe like a Spanish falafel. 👌🏼
The mojitos were tasty and potent enough to even add some sparkling water after a few drinks to keep them going a little longer.
Was it expensive compared to other options in the area - sure. But it’s relative to the food and the service. We certainly felt great about the value.
We’ll be back next week to try the carrot...
