If you’re looking for a local, seemingly family-owned place disconnected from any of the beachside sales-pitches, this is your restaurant. My two brothers and I chose this soda based on Google reviews, and the prices are as advertised in the photo another user uploaded.
We walked in around 5:30 P.M. and it was one of the only restaurants nearby without someone out front trying to get our business. We were greeted by a gentleman who gestured for us to take any seat, and once we did a server came to bring us menus. My brothers say she asked us if we were ready to order using English, but I didn’t hear and so I ordered in Spanish and they followed suit. We ordered various casados, which came with the meat, a nice sized pile of white rice, black beans, a salad (lettuce, tomato wedge, cucumber slice, and lime wedge), and about a half of a fried plantain sliced long-ways. The food came quick, was hot, and tasted delicious. It filled us without making us feel stuffed. When we were ready to pay for the meal, our server was sitting in the entryway playing with a baby on her lap, so another gentleman came to clear our plates. We let him know we were ready to pay and he quickly brought us the check.
This is exactly the type of food we were expecting to eat regularly while in Costa Rica, and we hope to find more places like it during our...
Read moreI ordered a fillet of chicken and my girlfriend ordered rice with chicken. The definition of fillet in the dictionary specifies that the meat is boneless. The "fillet" that I was served was anything but boneless. It was almost more bone than meat. But apart from that, the flavour of the sauce was good. Also, my girlfriend's rice with chicken was a generous portion and she looked the taste of it. But the service here was awful. It seemed as if something had just happened before we arrived and the staff seemed very preoccupied when we arrived. One literally ignored our arrival, to the point that I had to find some menus that had been left on another table myself. The guy that took are order was very abrupt and quite rude. It was all very off-putting and we wouldn't return to this restaurant in future. To add to the discomfort, there were several cats and a dog that were allowed to sit around our table and beg for food, while they weren't trying to mate next to our table. It was really off-putting again and not an experience that we would...
Read moreSwitch the table cloths and this place would be a perfect simple hole in the wall.
If I didn't read the reviews before visiting I probably would have simply driven by this place and never give it the 2nd thought. If you would see it you can understand why. The place is basically a shack with your normal white plastic chairs and what may be similar tables under green table cloths to match. Sounds unappealing? Well it was until we got our food.
We ordered fish fingers for our daughter and a burger for our son and Ceviche with a large Fried Snapper for us. Let me tell you. The fish was as good as one can get. My guess it is coming directly from local fishermen that catch it every morning because when we were sitting at the restaurant a guy came in offering a fairly large Snapper, which I am guessing was swimming may be 5 minutes ago. Snapper was great and not dry like one gets here in PA. The lunch came out a little more expensive then I was hoping for but it was worth...
